A Journey of Gratitude: The People Behind Bodhi

“Every great journey begins with a guiding light; it is the people who walk the path with us who make the journey meaningful.”

As I look back at the journey of Bodhi International School over the last twelve years, my heart is filled with one overwhelming emotion gratitude.

My deepest gratitude first goes to my spiritual Guru, Guru Dev Kamal Vijay Ji, whose inspiration, blessings and guidance have been the spiritual foundation of the vision that became Bodhi International School.

Bodhi was not merely conceived as a school. It was envisioned as a place where education would go beyond academics where children would learn to think, to question, to care, to respect and to become responsible human beings.

The inspiration and guidance of Guru Dev Kamal Vijay Ji have been a constant source of strength throughout this journey. Whenever I look at what Bodhi has become, I am reminded that every institution begins with a vision, but it takes faith, people and collective effort to turn that vision into reality.

And that brings me to the people who have truly made Bodhi what it is today our teachers and our staff.

To every teacher who has been a part of Bodhi: Thank You.

Twelve years is a long journey. During these years, hundreds of teachers and staff members have walked through the gates of Bodhi. Some have stayed for many years; some have moved on to different chapters of their lives. But each one has left something behind.

A lesson.

An idea.

A tradition.

A memory.

A student's smile.

A moment of encouragement.

A little piece of their heart.

And that, to me, is the true legacy of a teacher.

“A school is not built by its walls; it is built by the people who fill those walls with purpose.”

I still remember an incident from the early years of Bodhi.

One evening, when the school was still finding its identity, I was walking through the corridors after most people had left. I noticed a teacher sitting in her classroom, preparing for the following day.

I asked her, “You are still here? Why don't you go home?”

She smiled and simply said:

“Ma'am, tomorrow's children are waiting.”

Those words stayed with me.

Tomorrow's children are waiting.

That is what teachers do.

They prepare today for a tomorrow they may never personally see.

Over the years, we have celebrated academic achievements, sporting victories, artistic performances, international accomplishments and countless milestones. But behind every one of those achievements is a teacher.

Behind a confident child is a teacher who believed in them.

Behind a curious mind is a teacher who encouraged questions.

Behind a successful student is a teacher who patiently explained something one more time.

Behind a performance is a teacher who stayed after school.

Behind a child who found their voice is a teacher who first listened.

And behind the growth of Bodhi is a team that has given its time, energy, patience, creativity and commitment to this institution.

You are the soul of Bodhi.

I often feel that there is very little I can give in return for what our teachers and staff have given to this school.

I can offer recognition.

I can offer opportunities.

I can offer platforms.

But what can truly equal the years of dedication, the countless hours, the emotional investment and the unwavering belief that so many of you have given to Bodhi?

Perhaps nothing.

All I can offer is my deepest and most heartfelt gratitude.

Thank you for believing in the dream.

Thank you for standing beside us when the road was difficult.

Thank you for questioning, challenging and helping us grow.

Thank you for celebrating every little success.

Thank you for caring for children who were entrusted to us.

Thank you for carrying the spirit of Bodhi beyond the classroom.

And thank you for making this institution not merely a workplace, but a community.

When I am asked what makes me proudest about Bodhi, I could speak about our growth, our achievements, our programmes, our students or our alumni.

But my answer would always come back to one thing: Our People.

Our teachers and staff are my pride and my greatest support.

They have been the hands that have built Bodhi, the minds that have shaped it and the hearts that have nurtured it.

Bodhi has grown because people cared enough to give it their best.

And therefore, when we celebrate twelve years of Bodhi, we are not merely celebrating an institution.

We are celebrating every person who helped build it.

To those who have been with us since the beginning, to those who joined along the way, and to those who may have been with us for only a short chapter you are all a part of the Bodhi story.

Wherever life takes you, a part of your contribution will always remain within these walls.

“A teacher may teach for a year, but the impact of that teaching can last a lifetime.”

As we look towards the years ahead, my prayer is that we continue to preserve the spirit with which Bodhi was founded to educate with purpose, lead with compassion and grow with humility.

My deepest gratitude to Guru Dev Kamal Vijay Ji for being the guiding light behind this journey.

And my deepest gratitude to every teacher and every member of the Bodhi family who has walked this path with us.

You have given Bodhi your time.

You have given Bodhi your talent.

You have given Bodhi your trust.

And most importantly, you have given Bodhi a part of your heart.

For all of this, I can only say:

Thank You. With all my heart.

With gratitude and warmth,

Ms. Nitu Bothra Executive Director

Teacher vs AI: Who Will Shape the Future of Learning?

The debate about Teacher vs AI is often framed as a competition: Will artificial intelligence replace teachers? The more important question, however, is not who will win, but what each can uniquely contribute to learning.

AI can access enormous amounts of information, generate explanations, personalise practice, analyse patterns and provide instant feedback. It can work tirelessly and adapt content to different levels. Yet education has never been only about information. Education is about human development.

The teacher’s greatest lesson may not be academic

We often measure teachers by what students achieve academically.

But some of the most important lessons cannot be captured in a report card.

How to disagree respectfully.

How to listen.

How to recover from failure.

How to collaborate with someone different from you.

How to stand up for what is right.

How to be curious without being certain.

How to use knowledge responsibly.

AI can simulate these conversations.

A teacher lives them with students.

Because children do not simply learn from what teachers say. They learn from how teachers behave.

Every classroom is therefore also a lesson in humanity.

The real danger is not AI replacing teachers

The greater danger is teachers using AI without questioning it.

If AI writes every resource, generates every question, assesses every response and determines every learning pathway, we risk creating classrooms that are efficient but intellectually passive.

Technology should amplify teacher expertise, not replace teacher judgement.

The teacher must remain the critical thinker in the room.

Use AI. Question AI. Challenge AI. But never surrender professional judgement to it.

The teacher of tomorrow

The teacher of the future may spend less time standing at the front of the classroom and more time observing, facilitating, questioning, coaching and mentoring.

They will need to understand technology but also its limitations.

They will need to teach students not merely how to find answers, but how to evaluate them.

Because education was never simply about putting knowledge into a child’s mind.

It is about helping a child discover what to do with that knowledge, who they want to become, and how they can make a difference in the world.

And that is where the teacher’s greatest advantage will always remain:

AI can process the future.

A teacher can help a child imagine it.

The teacher of the future, therefore, will not be the person who competes with AI. It will be the teacher who knows when to use AI, when to question it, when to put it aside, and when human interaction matters more.

The classroom of the future may have fewer boundaries between technology and learning, but it should never have fewer opportunities for human connection, curiosity, empathy, agency and wonder.

The Cost of “I’ll Do It Later

Have you ever noticed how easily later slips into too late?

A task appears manageable, a deadline seems distant, and the mind offers that wonderfully comforting thought: “There’s still time. I’ll do it later.” And so, we move on. One day passes, then another. The task remains where it was, but something else begins to fade—our enthusiasm.

Procrastination rarely announces itself as a problem. It disguises itself as comfort, as a little more time to think, as the freedom to begin whenever we feel ready. We convince ourselves that we are buying time, when often we are simply borrowing trouble from tomorrow. What could have been done with curiosity and ease becomes a burden. We stop enjoying the process because we are too busy worrying about the deadline.

And this is not just a student’s dilemma. We all do it. We postpone a conversation we know we need to have, a decision that demands courage, a task that seems tedious, or even a small responsibility that would take only a few minutes to complete. We wait for the right mood, the right moment, a quieter day. Sometimes, we wait so long that the opportunity itself loses its relevance.

But here is something worth thinking about: not every delay is procrastination, and not every immediate response is wise.

There are things we must learn to do without delay—prepare for an examination, honour a commitment, meet a deadline, act when someone needs our help. And then there are reactions we must learn to delay. A sharp response in a moment of anger, a judgement formed in haste, a message sent in frustration—these may benefit from a pause. The difference lies in knowing whether we are postponing an action out of avoidance or pausing for a better response.

Being alert, therefore, is not merely about noticing what is happening around us. It is also about recognising what needs our attention now and what needs our thoughtful consideration. Punctuality, too, goes beyond reaching school on time or submitting work before a deadline. It is a quiet expression of respect—for other people’s time, for our own commitments and for the opportunities entrusted to us.

So, how do we overcome procrastination? Not by waiting for motivation to arrive. Begin small. Break a difficult task into manageable steps. Put away the distractions. Set a realistic deadline and take the first step, even when you do not feel entirely ready. Equally, learn to pause before reacting, listen before judging and think before responding.

As we reflect on September, perhaps the question worth asking ourselves is this: Am I delaying something because I need time to think, or because I am afraid to begin?

We may not be able to control every demand on our time, but we can become more deliberate about how we use it. After all, the right moment is not always the one we wait for. Sometimes, it is the one we create by starting. And sometimes, the wisest thing we can do is pause—not to escape a responsibility, but to meet it with greater clarity.

Warmly

Principals Conclave and Felicitations 2026

We are delighted to share that Dr. Hema Singhal was felicitated by The Times of India with a Certificate of Appreciation at the Principals Conclave and Felicitations 2026.

A moment that acknowledges not just a designation, but the many conversations, choices, challenges and quiet contributions that shape educational leadership. Leadership in education is rarely about standing at the front. It is about creating spaces where people can grow, ideas can take shape, and every learner gets a little more than what was expected. This recognition is a celebration of that journey. Congratulations, Dr. Hema Singhal.

Here’s to leadership that leaves a mark — quietly, meaningfully and beyond the obvious.

Leader in Me Leader in Me

LEADER IN ME | SEPTEMBER 2026

Discovering Our Purpose and Shaping Our Future

September was an enriching month for our Grades 6–8 students as they continued their journey of self-discovery through the Leader in Me programme. The month focused on two key areas: developing a Personal Mission Statement and exploring Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.Through discussions, reflective activities and collaborative tasks, students explored their values, strengths, aspirations and responsibilities, developing a greater understanding of what matters to them and where they want to go.

Mission Statement: Knowing Who We Are

Students explored the concept of a Personal Mission Statement as a reflection of their values, strengths and aspirations. They considered questions such as:

  • What is important to me?

  • What values do I want to live by?

  • What kind of person do I want to become?

  • How can I make a positive difference?

Students identified qualities such as kindness, integrity, perseverance, responsibility, respect, courage, empathy and excellence as important elements of their personal identity. They also learnt that a Mission Statement can evolve as they grow and gain new experiences. It can serve as a personal compass, helping them make thoughtful choices and stay connected to their values.

Habit 2 – Begin With the End in Mind

“My vision shapes my future.”

Habit 2 introduced students to the importance of having a clear vision before beginning a journey. They explored how knowing what they want to achieve can help them make purposeful decisions and identify the steps needed to move forward.

Activities & Highlights

Vision Boards

Students created personal and academic Vision Boards, representing their aspirations and the future they would like to work towards.

Goal Setting

Students identified areas for personal and academic growth and considered practical steps to support their progress.

Monthly Goal Reviews

Regular reviews with teachers provide opportunities for students to recognise progress, address challenges and refine their goals.

Learning in Action

Students learnt that achieving a desired outcome requires commitment, perseverance and responsibility. They explored how qualities such as time management, consistency and thoughtful decision-making can support them in their everyday lives.

They also began to recognise that leadership is demonstrated through small, responsible choices—whether it is completing a task, supporting a peer, persevering through a challenge or taking ownership of a mistake.

Who Do I Want to Become?

The learning encouraged students to look beyond “What do I want to achieve?” and consider the deeper question:

“Who do I want to become?”

This helped them understand that personal growth extends beyond academic success. Character, relationships, empathy, integrity and responsibility are equally important in shaping a well-rounded individual.

Looking Ahead

The learning from September will continue through monthly goal-setting and reflection sessions. Students will revisit their Mission Statements and monitor their progress, allowing these principles to become an integral part of their learning and personal development.

September has provided our students with an important foundation: to understand themselves, envision their future and make choices that reflect the person they aspire to become.

“When we know where we want to go, our choices today can become the stepping stones towards tomorrow.”

Through Leader in Me, our Grades 6–8 students are discovering that meaningful leadership begins with self-awareness, purpose and responsible choices.

Hindi Diwas Hindi Diwas

Hindi Diwas — not just a celebration of a language, but a celebration of its many voices.

A day that beautifully brought together inter-House competitions, student engagement, teacher participation, poetry and performance — creating a space where Hindi was not merely spoken, but experienced.

From self-composed poems that gave us a glimpse into the minds and hearts of our young poets, to timeless verses that have travelled across generations, the day brought together the new, the familiar and the enduring. And perhaps that was the beauty of it — students and teachers sharing the same space, reciting, creating, performing and listening. A day filled with language, literature, culture and a sense of belonging — reminding us that some celebrations are not about looking back at tradition, but about finding new ways to keep it alive. Introduction to QB64

Grade: Cambridge-Grade 6

Subject: ICT

Grade 6 Cambridge learners embarked on an exciting introduction to QB64, exploring the fundamentals of programming through simple, hands-on activities. The session was designed to help students become familiar with the QB64 programming environment and understand how a computer follows instructions written by a programmer.

The activity began with an interactive exploration of the QB64 window, where students identified important components and discussed how each part supports the process of writing and running a program. Learners then moved from observation to action by writing their first simple QB64 instructions.

Students practiced writing and executing simple programs using the CLS and PRINT statements. They observed how CLS clears the output screen and how PRINT displays a message on the screen. This helped learners connect individual commands with the output produced by the computer.

The session also introduced students to the importance of managing their work. Learners practiced saving a QB64 program with a suitable name and then opening a saved program again. By completing the save-and-open cycle, students began developing responsible programming and file-management habits.

To make the learning more engaging, students worked through short programming challenges where they could type, execute, observe, save, and reopen their own programs. This practical approach encouraged careful typing, logical thinking, experimentation, and confidence while working in a programming environment.

Nature Walk: Beginning Our Sharing the Planet Inquiry

Our learners stepped outside for a nature walk, which served as a provocation for our Sharing the Planet unit. With curious eyes, they explored their surroundings and observed the world around them, identifying different living and non-living things.

What began as a simple walk soon became an opportunity for children to pause, notice, question, and share their ideas. They observed plants, insects, objects, and other elements of their environment and began thinking about what makes something living. The experience sparked natural curiosity and meaningful conversations, laying the foundation for further inquiry into living things and their relationship with the environment.

Looking Back

This month reminded us that meaningful learning can happen through celebration, creativity, language, and simply taking the time to observe the world around us. From moulding clay and making modaks to exploring colours, building Hindi words, and beginning our inquiry with a nature walk, every experience encouraged children to explore, express, and make connections.

Through these joyful experiences, our learners continued to develop as curious, creative, knowledgeable, and caring individuals, carrying their learning beyond the classroom and into the world around them.
