Dear PK8 Families,

Outdoor Education: Thank you to all of the families, community members, and students who participated in and contributed to our Walk-a-Thon! Your support directly funds valuable outdoor education opportunities for our 7th and 8th graders.

Collectively, our students walked an impressive 165.25 miles on Friday, September 11th—and that does not even include the extra laps walked by adults honoring our first responders! A huge shout-out and thank you to all the local first responders who joined us for the barbecue and provided a fantastic "cool off" for our students.

8th Grade – Marble Base Camp Trip 7th Grade – Sweitzer State Park Day Trip

Dates: Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Friday, Sept. 18 Dates: Thursday, Sept. 24

Dot Day: On Tuesday, our entire school will enjoy a reading of The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds to learn about making their mark in the world. Each student will then have the opportunity to leave their mark on a white dot through a drawing, poem, story, or creative expression of their choice. We will collect all the dots for a beautiful display in the commons.

The day will conclude with a brief assembly honoring Dot Day, including a short dedication by Mr. Burns for Mr. Scott Reinks to honor him and his new memorial bench in our front lobby. Following dismissal, district representatives will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony after school to celebrate the BEST Grant and Bond for our new entrance and HVAC system.

It is ideal if students know how to play, but if they want to learn, we are happy to teach them.

Mr. B hosts chess club on his own time. The goal is to provide a focused, calming, wrap-up for the week. Chess is an excellent activity. Good behavior and a ride home is required.
