A Trip Down Goshen Lane
Issue 7: September 12, 2025
Principal's Message
Hello, Families,
We have had a wonderful week at Goshen Lane. Your students smiled brightly today for their school photos. Picture retake day is Oct. 22nd for anyone who was absent. It was lovely meeting new faces at Tuesday's PTA meeting. Our Board shared a lot of information about exciting opportunities ahead. We'd love to see you next month for the October 14th PTA meeting! If you were unable to attend, you can find Title 1 details farther below.
This Week's Questions Around the Dinner Table:
What are you counting during Number Corner this month?
What is something you have noticed in Wit and Wisdom? What is something you have wondered?
What is one way you have been Safe, Helpful, and Caring this week?
Arrival details:
Our doors lock and the school day begins at 8:05. If your child is a car rider and your car arrives after 8:05, you will need to park your car, walk your child into the front office, and sign them in. Students should be coming in with an adult if they arrive after 8:05. Thank you for your help.
Dismissal celebration:
All cars were through the back pickup line before 3:00 today. Way to go, families! Your car number is displayed and your kids are coming out more quickly after their number is called. We are celebrating!
Do your part in ensuring you get to school on time and ready to learn! If you haven't done so already, please take the pledge! 🎉
Why Attendance Matters
Students who attend regularly are more likely to achieve academic success.
Good attendance builds responsibility and shows commitment.
Being on time helps create a calm, positive start to the day.
Together, we can help every child “stay in the game” by making attendance and arriving on time a priority.
Have a great weekend.
Sharon Suriano
Principal
Title 1 Information
School and home acting as partners is so important for a child's sense of belonging, achievement and attendance in school. Please see the School-Parent Compact below. We would love to have your commitment by filling out the Google form!
Start With Hello Week!
We are so excited for next week's "Start with Hello" week, an incredible initiative sponsored by Sandy Hook Promise, from September 15 - 19th. We will welcome daily greeters and enjoy dressing in our daily themes!
"Start with Hello" is designed to teach students to reach out to and include those who may be showing signs of social isolation. The simple act of saying "hello" can have a profound impact, helping to break down social barriers and create a more inclusive and welcoming school community.
Thank you to our parent volunteers who signed up to help!
Absence Reporting
As a result of House Bill 410, student attendance is calculated in hours. This includes absences that have been identified as both excused and unexcused by the school, as well as planned absences. Being late or tardy to school does calculate into the total hours absent.
Medical excuses from a doctor can be submitted to Emily McFadden, our school secretary, through email (mcfaddene@gjps.org) or sending in a paper copy.
If your child is going to be absent from school, please email Ms. McFadden at mcfaddene@gjps.org AND email your student's teacher. Or, you may call to notify the school office attendance line at 614-478-5580 prior to 8:00 a.m.
