OCTOBER 2026
Greetings Jones ES Community!
October is here, and we are continuing to drive toward success at Jones Elementary! This month brings meaningful opportunities to celebrate our diversity, promote kindness, and strengthen our school community.
As we conclude Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15), we look forward to celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of our Hispanic community with a special Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 7. Stay tuned for more details!
October is also Bullying Prevention Month, reminding us of the importance of kindness, respect, and creating a safe environment where every student feels valued. Additionally, we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, honoring survivors, remembering those we have lost, and supporting those impacted.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, let's make October a month of celebration, compassion, and continued growth as we keep driving toward success!

Every Eagle. Every Act of Kindness. Every Day.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and at Jones Elementary, we're putting kindness in the driver's seat! As we continue Driving Success, we're reminding our Eagles that success isn't just about academics. It's also about how we treat others, celebrate our differences, and make everyone feel like they belong.
What Does Kindness Look Like at Jones?
Every Eagle has the power to make a difference! We encourage our students to:
💙 Choose Kindness: Use words and actions that lift others up.
🤝 Include Others: Invite classmates to join in and make sure no one feels left out.
🦅 Speak Up: If you see or experience bullying, tell a trusted adult.
⭐ Celebrate Differences: Respect others and appreciate what makes each of us unique.

Safety and Security is EVERYONE'S Responsibility!
The safety and security of our students are our highest priorities. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a safe learning environment, we are reminding all families that students are required to wear their school-issued ID badges every day while on campus. Students should wear their ID badge visibly around the neck at all times during the school day. Lost or damaged badge- cost of replacement is $5.
Wearing ID badges helps us:
- Support emergency procedures, making it easier for staff and first responders to account for all students.
- Facilitate access to services, such as the cafeteria, library, and bus transportation, in a secure and efficient manner.
On the Move with Coach A
Punt, Pass, & Kick
The Punt, Pass & Kick Competition is returning to Aldine after a few years! Eighteen 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students—boys and girls—will proudly represent Jones Elementary at Thorne Stadium on October 5 at 2:00 PM.
Kid's Heart Challenge
The Kids Heart Challenge starts October 19th through November 13th! We’re excited to see more Jones families join us in promoting healthy hearts and healthy habits. Thank you to the families who already signed up during Open House!
Last year, Jones led Aldine ISD in donations, and we’re ready to do it again! Let’s come together and lead the way for the second year in a row! ❤️💙💛
🎉 And there’s a little extra motivation: Students who participate in donations will have the chance to PIE Coach A!
The Houston Rockets Be Fit Fall Challenge
Get ready to get active! The Houston Rockets Be Fit Fall Challenge will run from October 26th through December 1st. This program promotes health, fitness, and being physically active by encouraging students to track their physical activity throughout the challenge.
Students will calculate and log their physical activity minutes, giving them a fun way to stay motivated and make healthy choices throughout the month. Let’s get moving, Jones!
Nurse's Corner: Healthy Eagles, Happy Hearts!
October is all about staying healthy, showing kindness, and taking care of ourselves and others!
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we encourage families to have age-appropriate conversations about healthy habits and the importance of caring for our bodies.
As temperatures begin to change, help keep our Eagles healthy by encouraging frequent handwashing, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, and eating nutritious meals.
A Friendly Reminder: If your child is sick, please keep them home until they meet the district's return-to-school guidelines. Together, we can keep our Jones Eagles healthy and ready to learn!
❤️ Healthy Eagles are Ready to SOAR!
With care, Nurse Laurie

New State Cell Phone Policy (House Bill 1481)
House Bill 1481 is a new state law passed by the Texas Legislature that requires school districts to prohibit students from using personal wireless communication devices during instructional time. In accordance with the new House Bill 1481, all personal cell phone use is prohibited throughout the entire school day, including during passing periods and lunch. Phones and other electronic devices such as Apple Watches and earbuds must remain off and securely stored. This policy applies to all Aldine ISD facilities— classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and other school property—during school hours.
