Message from the Principal Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

As we wrap up another incredible school year, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the families who donated gift cards, treats, and monetary gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week. Your generosity helped make the week truly special for our staff—we couldn’t have celebrated in the way we did without your amazing support!

Looking ahead, our school supply list for the upcoming school year is now available in the Communication Spotlight section of this newsletter. We encourage families to take advantage of the Yubbler service for easy online ordering—ordering early ensures you’ll get the best discounts.

For students continuing their learning over the summer, iReady will remain accessible. We strongly recommend that students spend 30–45 minutes per week in both reading and math to help keep their skills sharp and ready for fall.

Wishing you and your family a safe, restful, and fun-filled summer!

Sincerly,

Mrs. Skelton

Wisconsin School Immunization Requirements Wisconsin School Immunization Requirements

To help keep all students healthy and safe, Wisconsin state law requires children in child care centers and K–12 schools to receive certain immunizations. These vaccines protect against diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatitis B, chickenpox, and whooping cough. Most vaccines are given in a series beginning in infancy and continuing through adolescence. Key ages for immunization include: age 1 (MMR, varicella), age 4 (DTaP, polio), age 11 (Tdap, meningococcal), and age 16 (second dose of meningococcal vaccine). HPV vaccination is routinely recommended at age 11–12 years (can start at age 9 years), and catch-up HPV vaccination is recommended for all persons through age 18 years if not adequately vaccinated.

Families must provide written proof of required immunizations or file a waiver within 30 school days of enrollment. Additional vaccine doses may be required at specific grade levels. If your child is entering school or child care, or moving to a new school, now is a great time to check with your doctor or local health department to ensure their immunizations are up to date. For more detailed information, visit the Wisconsin Department of Health Services immunization page.

ATTENTION! Password Changes ATTENTION! Password Changes

Keeping our passwords private and our accounts secure is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, all current 5th grade and 8th grade student passwords will be changing on July 7th. This change is necessary as 6th grade and 9th grade students have increased password security requirements.

In late June, an email will be sent out to student email accounts containing their new password. We kindly ask that you remind your child to write it down in a safe place for future reference. Once the password changes are made, your child will not be able to use their current password to access their accounts.

More specific information will be shared with families in May and June.

Hello KSD Community!

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, May is a time of both reflection and anticipation for our middle school students. This month can bring excitement, but also stress, as students balance final projects, exams, and year-end activities. Encourage your child to stay organized, maintain a consistent routine, and reach out for help if they feel overwhelmed. It's also a great time to celebrate their growth and accomplishments—both academic and personal—throughout the year.

Classroom Lessons:

I will not present any formal lessons this month. As always, I’m here to support your child’s social, emotional, and academic well-being.

Student Appointments:

I maintain contact with students based on self-referrals, staff/administrative referrals, and parent referrals. Students can continue to reach out to me by using the app on their Launchpad to schedule a meeting, emailing me to request a time to meet, or by stopping by my office. It is also very reasonable for parents to reach out to me by phone or email with any concerns regarding their child.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Rachel Weber, KMS Counselor
