4K in April
April in preschool is one of my favorite months. Classrooms begin learning about life cycles by hatching chickens. I think I love this as much as the kiddos! Many teachers will also focus on the various weather patterns (rain, clouds, rainbows, etc) and have fun learning about fairy tales.
The year is quickly wrapping up, but there is still so much time for your little ones to grow and learn as they prepare for Kindergarten in the Fall. Please continue to check the K Transition Checklist below for new information!
4K at Cathedral is featured this month!
4K with Ms. Nielsen
Dino Week was in full swing at Cathedral 4K right before Spring Break! During dino week students learned:
- about the different types of dinosaurs there are
- that they are classified as herbivores, carnivores, or omnivores
- learned about volcanoes
- explored digging fossils
- became paleontologists
- created their own dinosaur egg that they got to take home over Spring Break and hammer it open (with parents help of course).
- made dinosaur dioramas
- and so much more!
Friday before Spring Break was a BLAST—literally! Mrs. Nielsen's fifth graders made a vinegar volcano for the 4K students, and when it erupted, the preschoolers screamed louder than a T-Rex! Science + dinosaurs = the best week ever! Mrs. Nielsen has a mustache on because it was mustache day for teachers that week!
When they returned from Spring Break, they walked into an ocean theme! Learning through play makes every day an adventure in preschool! From building tall towers to learning to play with friends, exploring nature, and creating messy masterpieces, every game is a lesson in disguise! Through laughter, curiosity, and hands-on fun, we are getting ready for Kindergarten!
March Family Night at the Northern Lights was great!
Thank you to all who joined us as we learned about the 7 Grandfather teachings of Ojibwe culture. We had fun crafts, free books and we even found a picture book about the 7 teachings that I read. The kids were able to bring home their own little book of each animal and teaching as well. It was a great night at Northern Lights!
