December Lifeline: HOPE December Lifeline: HOPE

Hope is about believing good things can happen in the future. It means thinking positively, setting goals, and taking steps to reach them. Hope isn’t just a “happy feeling”—it’s choosing to keep trying, even when things are tough.

People who are optimistic tend to explain challenges in a way that helps them keep moving forward. They think, “I can learn from this,” or “Things can get better.” People who feel more pessimistic might think problems are out of their control or won’t change.

When we practice hope, we look for possibilities, make a plan, and believe we can make progress—one step at a time.

Thank you for leaning into the lifeline of flexibility this week. Whether you adjusted your morning for a two-hour delay or headed out a few minutes early to help ease traffic congestion, we appreciate your collaboration as we work together to keep everyone safe. We continue to explore ways to improve our morning arrival routines, and your ongoing patience and partnership mean so much.

Our amazing PTO is currently in the donation phase of their Adopt Team Meadow event. If you feel led to participate, you’ll find more information and contact details below. As always, your support in any form is appreciated, and participation is completely optional.

If your family could benefit from a little extra support in the weeks ahead, especially during the holiday season, please take a moment to review the resources and information provided below.

A few calendar items to note:

  • Best wishes to our BME Steel Eagles (robotics team) as they head off to Lawrence Township this weekend for their robotics competition! Thank you, Mrs. Bender and supporting families for making these experiences come to fruition.
  • PTO Meeting – Tuesday at 6:00 PM in the Media Center
  • Boone Meadow Voices Concert – Next Friday (12/12) at ZWEST, beginning at 7:00 PM
  • Winter Classroom Parties – Thursday, December 19, our final day before Winter Break. Teachers will communicate volunteer needs if applicable.

As always, thank you for helping make Boone Meadow such a special place. We are grateful for your partnership and continue to hope for great things for you, your family, and our community. (See the December Lifeline: Hope at the top of this newsletter.)

Stay warm, and we hope you enjoy a restful, joy-filled weekend.

With gratitude,
Tom & Jarrod

Winter Weather Reminders Winter Weather Reminders

With our recent winter weather, this is a good time to share a few reminders about procedures on snowy or cold days:

  • Two-hour delays: On delay days, we are unable to have outdoor recess due to the abbreviated day and adjusted schedules for related arts and lunch.

  • Snow play: Students must have proper snow gear (snow pants, boots, hats, gloves) in order to play in the snow. Students without full gear will still have access to games and playground equipment in the cleared/safe areas of the back lot.

  • Cold temperatures: We value fresh air, and students should be prepared for outdoor play if temperatures are above 10 degrees. Thank you for sending your child prepared for the weather.

  • Label your gear: Winter gear is easily misplaced, and names on items help us return belongings quickly. Our lost and found grows rapidly this time of year!

Lunch Guests

We are ready to welcome lunch guests! Students and their guests will have lunch at designated locations in the front lobby area. Please no more than 2 guests per student due to limited space. So that others may have the opportunity, we ask that you not sign up more than 1 time per month. As we implement this new system/procedure, we will limit availability the first two weeks to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday visits.

Here's how it works:

  • Sign up for a reservation in advance using this link: https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/BMELunchSchedule@zcsk12in.onmicrosoft.com/bookings/ When you sign up, please be certain to complete all fields requested.
  • Bring a photo ID and arrive 5 minutes early (lunch times are listed on the signup form link above).
  • Your child will meet you in the front office area when they are ready.
  • HAVE FUN!

Visitors and Volunteers Visitors and Volunteers

During the school day, all volunteers are expected to check in at the front office. Prior to the volunteer's first volunteer experience, the individual must sign a Non-disclosure Acknowledgement Form and have successfully completed a Full Criminal History Background Check.. Necessary background check paperwork is available on the ZCS website at the Volunteers/BRAVO link and should be submitted at least 10 days before the intended volunteer date. Volunteers must also view the state-mandated confidentiality/bullying video, provided on the Volunteer/BRAVO website. The volunteer will pay the fee for the full background check which will expire after 5 years.

During the school day, all visitors must enter via the front door and sign in at the front office. Visitors need to be prepared to present a government-issued photo ID which will be scanned against the National Sex Offender Registry. All visitors will be issued a visitor badge/tag to be worn inside the building at all times. Visitors other than parents/guardians must be prearranged and organized through the main office.
