Middle School RAMblings
Your monthly update for DLL: October 2024
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
#RamPride - Stellar September at DLL
We’re excited to share that Dana L. Lyon Middle School has kicked off the year with incredible energy and enthusiasm! During our first week, students engaged in team-building tasks, learned school expectations, and explored our building. Now, a month in, our scholars are delving into fascinating subjects.
Seventh graders investigated milkweed bugs to explain their life cycle, while fourth graders constructed circuits to understand the importance of closed circuits for electricity. Eighth graders have embarked on a year-long project tracking stocks in the market, fostering real-world financial literacy. Our hallways resonate with students joyfully singing the Spanish alphabet, showcasing their language skills. Music education is in full swing with chorus and band students learning their craft.
Additionally, all DLL students participated in our September Wellness Event, The September Stroll, promoting health and community. We can't wait to see what more learning and growth the year will bring as Dana L. Lyon Middle School continues to thrive!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jenn D'Abbracci

Attendance is Important!
We value good attendance at Dana L. Lyon. Good attendance is necessary for student success both in and out of the classroom. Statistics show chronic absences are a leading indicator of a student dropping out of school. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic achievement and chances for graduating. We do our best to promote attendance through student involvement, classroom engagement, and positive rewards. We also encourage parents to do their best in promoting school attendance. Thank you for your support!

Homecoming Week - October 7th through October 11th
We will be celebrating Homecoming week with school spirit days from October 7th through October 11th. Please check out the attached flyer to see how you can show your school spirit!
Be Aware and Report Concerns
If you notice anything that seems out of place or could pose a threat—whether it’s a physical hazard, an issue among students, or a suspicious situation—please don’t hesitate to report it immediately. Timely communication can prevent small issues from becoming bigger ones, and we all have a part in staying observant and proactive. The number one toll we have, "See Something, Say Something." There is a direct link to report on the Bath Central School District Website.
Reading Rams Program
The Bath-Haverling PTA’s reading program for pre-k through 6th grade, now called Reading Rams, is returning this school year! This program is an incentive to get students reading each and every day and to help them find the joy in reading. Each child in pre-k through 6th grade will have the opportunity to earn a free food item from different businesses in Bath for hitting their goal each quarter.
Each child will have a goal of reading or being read to for 15 minutes a day, for at least 20 days per month. The child's reading chart must be returned to their teacher to earn credit. Deadlines for submission are on the log. Please reach out to your child's teacher with questions and HAPPY READING!
