Note from the Principals Note from the Principals

HHES Families:

Thank you to the HHES families who attend yesterday's Science Fair. It was wonderful to see so many of you there! We are so proud of our HHES student scientists for show casing their science learning!

School Bus Information

We want to be sure that each student has a safe, pleasant ride to school. We know that some students get to school via parent drop off and pick up and that many others use our school buses for transportation. We recently had a meeting with our transportation team from First Student to discuss how we can improve the bus riding experience for our students. Here are a few key takeaways from our meeting with First Student:

- All buses use common bus rules. These are posted on each bus and reviewed by drivers throughout the year.

- Each bus is equipped with a child alert alarm. When the driver turns off their bus and removes the key, an alarm sounds if movement is detected on the bus. This is to ensure that no student is left behind. Unfortunately, shadows of people walking past the bus and other things can trigger these alarms. When the alarm sounds, it is a repeated honking of the school bus horn. We have received reports of excessive honking by school buses. This is usually because a child alert alarm has been triggered.

PWT Coin Challenge

Our PWT coin challenge takes place next week. Students can bring in coins for the challenge each day and can drop them off in their grade level coin jar in the HHES library between 7:45 and 8 a.m. You can read more about the challenge below.

Report Cards

We are excited to share more about your child's progress at school this year. First semester report cards will be sent home with your child on Wednesday. Please be sure to check your child's backpack for their report card envelope.

Remember to vote: Renewal Levy Supports Student Programs & School Operations Remember to vote: Renewal Levy Supports Student Programs & School Operations

Hockinson School District has a measure on the ballot to renew funding for student programs and school operations. Remember to vote: mail ballots or drop ballots in a drop box by Tuesday, February 10.

Without levy funding, HSD would face difficult decisions including potential reduction or elimination of art & music programs, Advanced Placement & elective classes, sports & extracurricular activities, staffing to maintain small class sizes, school nurses, extracurricular transportation, learning technology replacement cycles, textbooks & curriculum replacement cycles, security staff & school/family communication tools, and building maintenance.

Find more information on the HSD levy webpage or in this informational mailer.
