JSC Weekly WaveWeek of January 16th trough January 20th, 2023

Dear JSC Community,

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend! Last week, students at JSC learned about Martin Luther King, Jr., (and other civil rights activists) and how he led the movement to end segregation and counter prejudice in the United States through the means of peaceful protest. "The time is always right to do what is right."

In this week's newsletter you will find news, updates, and upcoming events in our JSC learning community! Have a great week! Roll Tide!

Your partner in education,

Ms. Kerri Lubinsky

Principal

John S. Clarke Elementary Center

Important News and Information Important News and Information

Walker Dismissal 3:05 PM

We would like to remind parents / families picking up students that walker dismissal is at 3:05 PM, daily. (Kindergarten walkers are dismissed at the same time as all other grade levels.) Kindergarten walkers are dismissed from the Gym Entrance (around side of building). Older siblings should report to the Gym Entrance to be dismissed with their kindergarten sibling.

All other grade level walkers (grades 1 through 4) are dismissed from the main entrance.

Administrator Bus Ride-Alongs

If your child rides the bus, please be sure to talk to your child(ren) about proper and safe bus behaviors. We do our best to consistently and frequently review the following points:

  • Students should remain seated and facing forward at all times when riding the bus
  • Students should use only kind words and refrain from any profanity or screaming
  • Students should keep their hands, arms, legs, and objects to themselves at all times

In an effort to review and monitor bus behavior, Ms. Lubinsky will take turns riding buses (in the morning and afternoon). She is always on the lookout for students who are following JSC's PRIDE rules!

After-School Tutoring at JSC

Beginning January 17th, after school tutoring will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3:45 to 5:15. Students MUST have a permission form completed in order to stay after school. Please contact your child's teacher to obtain a permission form, or print the form below.

Note: Walk-ins will still be accepted, but please know that tutoring will end at 5:15.

(Students who stay after school will be tutored from 3:45-4:45.) Walk-ins will be tutored for up to one hour. (Tutoring will now end at 5:15 for walk-ins.)
