Safety is a shared responsibility. ๐Ÿ’š

Student safety is a shared responsibility, and we are grateful for the support of our SES families.

This year, 48 Grade 4 and 5 students are participating in our AMA School Safety Patrol Program, helping students safely cross at the crosswalks on Addinell Avenue and Anders Street.

We ask all drivers to help keep our students and patrollers safe by:

๐Ÿšธ Parking at least 5 metres away from crosswalks, intersections, and stop signs.

๐Ÿ‘€ Keeping crosswalk areas clear so students and patrollers are visible to drivers.

๐Ÿš— Following posted parking signs and slowing down in school zones.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and caring environment for all students.

Together, we can keep our students safe. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ’š Remember, Seton... We Lift Each Other Up ๐Ÿ’š Remember, Seton... We Lift Each Other Up

Our faith is at the heart of who we are at St. Elizabeth Seton. This space is where we share opportunities to grow in faith, celebrate together, and lift one another up both at school and within our parish community.

โœจIt's Catholic Education Weekโœจ

This year's theme is: โ€œThe Power of the Holy Spiritโ€ Inspired by Romans 15:13:

โ€œMay the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,

so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.โ€

๐Ÿ”ทWe are wearing blue on Thursday, October 22nd!๐Ÿ”ท

Blue symbolizes constancy, fidelity, genuineness, and aspiration, with a special association with the Blessed Virgin Mary. As October is traditionally recognized as the month of the rosary, it is fitting to wear blue attire during Catholic Education Week. This serves as a visible celebration of publicly funded Catholic schools in Alberta and across Canada, honoring their invaluable contribution to education and faith formation.

๐Ÿ’š Living Our Faith

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Guardians of Hope This Week: 21 Students Recognized

Each week, we celebrate students who show hope in action by encouraging others, showing kindness, offering help, and finding ways to lift someone up.

We are so proud of our Guardians of Hope! ๐Ÿ’š

These students are helping us live our โ€œRemember, Seton... WE LIFT EACH OTHER UP!โ€ culture in very real ways. ๐Ÿ’š We are proud of the students who are recognized each week and grateful for the many ways they are helping make SES a place where every child knows they belong, they are valued, and they have a voice.

๐ŸŒŸ A Guardian of Hope in Action:
Kinder students were recognized because they offered hope by:

Encouraging a new friend to play with the group!

๐Ÿ™ A Prayer from Our Students

Each week, we share a prayer written and read over the morning announcements by one of our students as a reflection of the faith, hope, and care within our SES community.

Dear Almight Father,

Thank you for friends and family.

Sorry for being unkind and not listening to others at times.

Please let me grow in kindness this year.

Amen

๐Ÿšจ Hour Zero: Practicing for Safety

At St. Elizabeth Seton, the safety of our students and staff is always a priority. As part of our Hour Zero emergency preparedness program, we regularly practice our emergency protocols so that everyone knows what to do and can respond calmly and confidently if an emergency ever occurs.

Since the beginning of the school year we have been practicing our Evacuation Protocols, and doing a fantastic job. In the coming weeks we will be practicing the most serious of our Hour Zero safety protocols: "Lock-down".

What it means: A Lock-down" protocol is used when there is an immediate threat inside the school or on school grounds. This is a very serious situation. Students and staff will secure their specific classroom or area, moving out of sight, and staying quiet until first responders arrive and clear the area.

What it doesn't mean: While this is a critical situation, it does not mean there is no plan. Our staff and students are trained to follow specific procedures that have been developed with the help of local law enforcement. It is structured and organized response to a threat.

How you can help: This is the most important message. If you receive a notification that our school is in a "Lock-down," do not call or text your child. Phones will be silenced. Do not come to the school. Emergency responders need a clear path to the building, and having parents on site can create confusion and impede their efforts. We will provide a safe reunification location and procedure for you when the "Lock-down" is over.

For more information please check out our Emergency Response Plan.

๐Ÿ‚ A New Addition This Year!

Students will have their individual photo AND class photo on the same day. Class group photos are included with the purchase of a picture package.

Please mark your calendar according to your child's class:

๐ŸŽƒ Halloween at SES!

Halloween is alive and well at St. Elizabeth Seton! We look forward to a fun day of creativity, costumes and community on Friday, October 30th. Students are invited to wear their costumes to school on this day and will remain in costume throughout the day.

A few reminders to help everyone have a safe and enjoyable day:

  • ๐ŸŽƒ Choose a costume that is comfortable enough to wear all day and allows your child to participate in Phys. Ed., recess and regular classroom activities.
  • ๐Ÿ‘• Students who prefer not to wear a costume may wear black and/or orange clothing.
  • ๐Ÿ™‹ Costumes should be able to be managed independently without requiring adult assistance.
  • ๐Ÿ˜Š No masks, please. Makeup is welcome as long as students remain identifiable.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Costumes depicting violence or that are revealing are not appropriate for school.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Fake weapons or props that could be considered weapons should not be brought to school.
  • ๐Ÿ’š We encourage our older students to be mindful of how their costume choices may affect younger students and others in our school community.

๐ŸŽ‰ And thereโ€™s more!

Classroom teachers will be planning fun Halloween activities for the afternoon. Please watch for more details in the coming weeks through your child's teacher's updates.

With so many creative minds at work, there are limitless ways to have fun with Halloween while keeping our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone!

Our School Council is hosting a Family Halloween Dance on Friday, October 30th 6-8 PM. Sign up information is below in the School Council section.

We can't wait to see the creativity at Seton! ๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿงก
