Queen of Apostles School
Term 3 Week 6 - Thursday 27 August 2026
Prayer
Lord,
grant me strong courage as I go through this day.
When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going.
Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don’t go my way.
And give me courage to do whatever needs to be done.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
What an incredible experience our Queenies Choir students had last Friday evening at One Big Voice!
Students from Years 3–6 had the opportunity to be part of a huge combined choir, performing alongside students from schools across WA. Seeing our students on the big stage, surrounded by hundreds of other young voices, was a pretty special sight and certainly an experience they will remember for a long time.
One of the things I love about Queenies is the range of opportunities our students have beyond the classroom. Experiences like One Big Voice allow our students to discover their talents, build confidence, connect with others and simply have a whole lot of fun!
Of course, these opportunities don't happen without dedicated staff who are prepared to give their time and energy. A huge thank you to our Music Teacher, Mrs Perry, for all the work that went into preparing our choir, and to Mrs O'Brien and Mrs Anderson for giving up their Friday evening to attend and supervise our students. We are very fortunate to have staff who continually go above and beyond to create these experiences for our kids.
Thank you also to our parents and families for supporting the students throughout the preparation and on the night. Your support makes opportunities like this possible. I did feel for those people stationed around me for the "karaoke" version of Sweet Caroline - but I'm told it's part of the experience!
And finally, congratulations to our Queenies Choir! You represented our school beautifully and we hope you loved every minute of being part of One Big Voice.
At QOA, we want our students to have opportunities to find the things that make them shine, and last Friday night was certainly one of those moments!

Corridors for Carnaby’s Takes Flight at QOA
We are excited to commence the first phase of our Corridors for Carnaby’s Project on Monday 31 August.
As part of this exciting environmental initiative, our Year 3–6 students will head to the back oval to plant Banksia seedlings, helping to create an important future food source and habitat for the endangered Carnaby’s Black-Cockatoo.
This is much more than a one-day tree planting event. The project will span up to three years as we progressively increase native vegetation across our school grounds and create a lasting environmental legacy for future generations of QOA students.
We are thrilled to be partnering with the City of Canning and well-known gardening expert Sabrina Hahn to bring this project to life. Sabrina will join us on the day, helping our students understand why these plants are so important and how their actions can make a genuine difference to our local environment.
We look forward to seeing our students get their hands dirty on Monday and take an active role in caring for creation and our local community. We can’t wait to watch our own little Corridor for Carnaby’s grow!
After-School Duty of Care – A Reminder for Families
We ask all families to please support us in ensuring students are appropriately supervised at the end of the school day.
Once Y1-6 students are dismissed, they must either be directly under the care and supervision of their parent/carer or move immediately to one of our two designated pick-up areas:
- Drive-through pick-up
- Church pick-up area
Staff are unable to provide supervision after 3:00 pm for students who remain around the school grounds outside these designated pick-up areas.
Unfortunately, we have had recent incidents where students remaining on school grounds without adult supervision have experienced conflict with other students or sustained injuries. These situations can be avoided by ensuring children are collected promptly and remain with their parent/carer once collected.
We appreciate that families often enjoy catching up at the end of the school day, and we value this sense of community. However, if parents choose to remain on the school grounds after dismissal, responsibility for the supervision and behaviour of their children rests with them.
Thank you for helping us keep all students safe by ensuring your child is either with you or moves directly to their designated pick-up point at the end of each school day.
Catholic Performing Arts Festival
As the Catholic Performing Arts Festival draws to a close for our school, we want to congratulate all our talented students who participated. We are incredibly proud of your hard work, practice and dedication to mastering your instruments. You represented our school beautifully!
Below are the list of our amazing students and their wonderful achievements:
Angelico Art Exhibition
The Catholic Angelico Art Exhibition took place from the 13-28th August.
A big congratulations to the following students who had their art displayed at the Forrest Centre in the city.
Volunteers
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
