Falcon Update
Heritage Middle School-Week of December 1st
Letter from the Principal/Carta de la directora
Dear HMS Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We are excited for everyone to be back tomorrow. Time is going to fly before winter break, and we’re excited for all the learning and celebrations still to come.
On Tuesday, December 2nd, we have a late start, so please make sure that students are not on campus before 9:00 AM, as we do not have supervision.
We are excited to kick off our December attendance incentive this week. The first is a PBIS points incentive connected to our Holiday Extravaganza Store. We will be monitoring attendance from December 1st through December 12th. Students with perfect attendance during this period will earn 500 PBIS points, those with one absence will earn 250 points, and those with two absences will earn 100 points. The second incentive is that any student who comes to school during the Week of December 15th will get a cup of hot chocolate on Friday, December 19th.
This week, on Thursday, our 8th graders will meet with Morton West to learn more about high school and Morton West. We will also have a parent informational meeting on Thursday, December 4th, at 5 PM at Heritage Middle School.
Thank you,
Michelle Hauer

Family Resource
District 100 strives to ensure that all students and families feel safe, supported, and valued in our school communities. Resources to support families with immigration-related concerns are available on the family resources page on our website.

Digital Agreement
Our school is excited to provide each student with an iPad to support learning both in and out of the classroom. In order to ensure that devices are used responsibly and remain in good condition, we ask families and students to review the Digital Agreement by filling out this Google Form.
PBIS Rewards
We utilize an app called PBIS Rewards where students earn points throughout the school year for being Responsible, Respectful and Safe. We have a PBIS store that we open for students to purchase fun items with their points. We also do raffles, field trips and a winter extravaganza that students can utilize their points throughout the year. We encourage students to use their points by the end of the year as they do not roll over!
StopIt
This week, students will download STOPit to their iPads. This is an online application that Heritage students have access to. This application allows students to anonymously report incidents of bullying, misconduct or general concerns. All reports go to the support service team and administration, which allows us to act quickly and in real time to any concerns or incidents.
Breakfast & Lunch
Students at Heritage receive free breakfast and lunch each day if they choose to participate, or they may bring their own lunch from home. As a healthy school, we ask that students do not bring pop, energy drinks, or large bags of snacks.
Breakfast will be served each morning before students head to their Period 1 class. Lunch will take place at the scheduled time according to the bell schedule, and students will also have the option to participate in recess during their lunchtime.
Below will be where you can find the menus for Heritage through OrganicLife.
