Principal's Update
10/20/2025
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I want to thank all of our families who have taken the time to share your personal insights, reflections, poems, and photographs of your children with us as part of our "Million Words or Less" project. I want to encourage those of you who have not done so yet to take just a few minutes to share with us. This information will become part of how we get to better know, understand, and teach your children each day, so I appreciate the time you will spend on sharing those thoughts with us. Here is the information from last week:
Several years ago, our district embarked on an initiative to increase our knowledge and understanding of each of our students. The thought behind this is that if we want to best serve our students, we have to know them well enough to capitalize on their strengths, nurture their passions, and instruct them in the areas that are still in development. A key piece of this is engaging the people who know our students best- YOU! So, at Memorial, we are launching an activity titled, “ A Million Words or Less”. For those of you with high school students, this may look familiar as this is something that they tried out this year as well. We invite you to share with us, in a million words or less, what makes your child unique. Feel free to share whatever comes to mind such as their strengths, dreams, or even what motivates them. You may choose to write a brief paragraph, a few bullet points, a poem, or really whatever you feel best helps us to better know your child. Please use this form to share with us. Thank you for all of your help helping us to know your child from your perspective.
I want to mark a date on everyone's calendars; November 19th. While it seems a distance away, it will be upon us before we know it. That is the night of our second annual literacy night and this year you will not want to miss it! We are planning an exciting animal themed reading night and there are so really exciting opportunities for your child to engage with reading and writing with a focus on animals and pets. More information is coming in the next few weeks.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy
