Message From the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy June! With only thirteen days of school remaining, Miller students continue to excel in academics. This week some of our fifth grade students participated in our Geography Fair. Students researched a country of their choice and presented their facts and findings using displays, posters, report, and games. Congratulations to all of our students that participated in the fair. You did an outstanding job! We hope everyone has a great weekend.

Principal

The Wetlands Institute visits Miller School

On Tuesday, March 30, 2023, The Wetlands Institute visited some fifth grade students at Dr. Joyanne D. Miller School. They brought live turtles for the students to learn about and touch! Team 1 students then traveled throughout the hallway to also learn about horseshoe crabs, ospreys, shore birds, water pollution and the Wetlands. The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, has inspired youngsters to care about the environment and to become environmentally literate citizens (and maybe even scientists.)

Music Makers

Miss Luthke has an incentive program in her classroom called Music Makers. Each marking period one fourth and fifth grade class earns the title "Music Makers of the Marking Period." In order to win, every student in the class must be respectful, listen and try. In addition, each student must display a good attitude, effort, participation and be prepared for every class throughout the trimester. Once the class wins they receive school wide recognition by being announced by the principal. The class's name is displayed on a special bulletin board outside of Miss Luthke's room. The class also receives community recognition by being posted on Miss Luthke's website. Their teacher is recognized by receiving a certificate that they may display in their classroom and the students get to vote on a prize!
