Bare bones info this week to try and avoid overwhelming everyone here at the beginning of the year. Only immediate opportunities are shared this week. Let me know how I can help you settle in!

The PSAT/NMSQT is an OPTIONAL exam for 10th & 11th grade students as practice for the SAT OR as qualification for the National Merit Scholarship (11th only). The exam will take place during the school day on October 28, 2025 at Ashley High School. PSAT is only for current students enrolled at Ashley.

Registration information will be sent out by the end of the week. Please keep an eye out for it and reach out to me next week if necessary.

Students who want to accelerate their coursework to achieve their academic goals may apply for Credit by Demonstrated Mastery (CDM). The CDM process allows students to earn credit in a particular course by demonstrating proficiency in the subject without completing the classroom instruction. All North Carolina students in grades 9-12 are eligible to apply for Credit by Demonstrated Mastery in the available courses. For more information visit my website CDM page of the AIG Website

CDM Student Application Deadline is September 9, 2025 and must be turned in to me (office 405 or through your regular counselor). The application link is below.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 37th class in 2025, the Foundation has provided over 7,000 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $87 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. Application is now open until September 30!
