From the Principal
As summer comes to a close, it is with great excitement that we welcome all of our students and families to the 2026–2027 school year at West Elementary!
Whether you are returning for another year or joining our school community for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of the West family. At West Elementary, everything we do is For the W—for welcoming every child, fostering wonder, working together, and celebrating wins both big and small. Our dedicated staff has spent the summer preparing engaging lessons, refreshing classrooms, and planning meaningful experiences that will help every student learn, grow, and thrive.
The start of a new school year is filled with opportunity. It is a chance to build new friendships, discover new interests, develop confidence, and create lasting memories. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.
We also know that strong partnerships with families are essential to student success. We encourage you to stay connected through our newsletters, school events, and regular communication with your child's teacher. Together, we can ensure that every student has an outstanding year.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. We cannot wait to see our hallways filled with smiling faces, hear the excitement of learning, and begin another incredible year of stacking wins—together. Here's to a fantastic 2026–2027 school year at West Elementary. Let's make it our best one yet… For the W!

Title I Information
West Elementary School in Zion, IL is a Title I school, which means we receive federal funding to help ensure all students have access to a high-quality education. This support allows us to provide extra help in reading and math for students who may need it. Title I funding also helps us offer additional classroom resources, technology, and instructional materials. Our teachers use these tools to create engaging lessons that meet each child’s learning needs. Families may also see more school programs and activities designed to support learning at home. Being a Title I school helps us work together to give every student the opportunity to succeed.
