Hornet Connection 2023 November PCS Parent Newsletter

November is Family Engagement Month! November is Family Engagement Month!

#NationalParentalInvolvementDay

November is Parent Engagement Month as stated by Governor Kemp in the Governors Proclamation and State Superintendent Woods message to parents, at the bottom of this article. This special recognition allows us an opportunity to celebrate parents and the valuable supportive role that they play in the academic success of their children. As a school system we celebrate our parents and strive to offer supports and resources and raise awareness about the difference they make in their student's success. The 30th Annual National Parent Involvement Day is on November 16, 2023 and the event encourages schools to engage and honor the powerful contributions of families in success student outcomes!

PCS Parents please participate in Pelham City Schools drawing to celebrate parents this month! You can enter at the link below up to once a week throughout the month of November at "Celebrate PCS Parents" , gift drawing. An entry form with entry jar will also be available in the lobby of each school starting November 1- 30!

Teach them not to forget!

It is the job of parents, teachers and adults to teach our younger generation why we celebrate the holidays and special days that we celebrate in our country. The video below is a concise explanation of why we celebrate and who we are celebrating on Veterans Day! Share this video moment togehter and then ask some questions, like how can we thank a veteran for their sevice to us? Who are the veterans in our community?

Take a moment on November 11th to thank a veteran and look for local celebrations. In Pelham there is a Veterans Day Breakfast from 6-10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pelham , tickets can be bought at the door. Then at 11 a.m. there will be a Veterans Day service with the PHS band perfroming. Take a moment and teach our next genertion so they will pass it on as adults some day to thier children.
