MES Principal's Note MES Principal's Note

May 11th-15th, 2026

Dear MES Families,

It is hard to believe that this is our last FULL week of school! We are busy wrapping up lessons, projects, and end-of-year activities as we finish the year strong. Please take a few moments to ask your child(ren) if they are caught up on assignments and completing their work with their best effort as we head into the final days of the school year.

We also have several exciting events taking place this week:

  • Wednesday, May 13th: Our 2nd grade students will travel north to Lincoln, Nebraska for a fun-filled day at the Children’s Museum.
  • Thursday, May 14th: We will host our 2nd Annual Kinder/Senior Walk at the football field beginning at 8:30 AM. This special tradition brings together our kindergarten students and graduating seniors for a memorable celebration of beginnings and endings.
  • Friday, May 15th: Our 6th graders will head to the Milford Nature Center for their class field trip.

Looking ahead to next week:

  • Monday, May 18th: 6th Grade Promotion at 7:00 PM in the MES Gym
  • Tuesday, May 19th: Kindergarten Promotion at 2:00 PM in the MES Gym
  • Wednesday, May 20th: MES BBQ and our K-2 FUN DAY beginning at 1:00 PM
  • Thursday, May 21st: Last Day of School with a 12:10 PM dismissal

As summer approaches, I encourage all of our families to embrace the extra family time, continue learning in everyday ways, and explore new adventures together. Read books, spend time outdoors, make memories, and enjoy the slower pace that summer can bring.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this school year. We are grateful for the partnership we share with our MES families. Have a wonderful summer, and we look forward to seeing everyone back in August!

Go Bulldogs!

1st Grade Recess Radio 1st Grade Recess Radio

This week on Recess Radio, we went straight to the experts to solve the nightly "What's for dinner?" dilemma. When asked what they would whip up if they were in charge of the kitchen tonight, our 1st graders proved they have some surprisingly sophisticated (and delicious) palates! The menu ranged from breakfast-for-dinner favorites like bacon and eggs to creative comforts like heart-shaped pizza and Spam & rice. Some of our chefs had their techniques down pat—one student explained that for the perfect spaghetti, you simply "put noodles in water when it bubbles, then add sauce"—while others preferred a more "dessert-first" approach with requests for cake and cookie dough. We also had a few unique specials on the board, including tacos, salad, and a mysterious house favorite called "Turkey Snitchle" (which we assume is a very gourmet take on schnitzel!). Whether it’s noodles or high-end poultry, one thing is for sure: 1st grade dinner parties would definitely be the highlight of the week!

"Celebrate America" Event Success "Celebrate America" Event Success

We are still buzzing with excitement following our recent "Celebrate America" event! It was a joy to watch our MHS high school students step into leadership roles as they hosted our K-4 students for a morning of interactive, hands-on discovery. Our younger learners "traveled" across the country, engaging with creative presentations that brought the unique history and culture of different states to life. The high schoolers did an incredible job of making learning fun, and it’s safe to say our K-4 students had an absolute blast exploring the wonders of our nation. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated high school participants for their hard work and enthusiasm, and a very special thanks to Carla Wolfe for her vision and meticulous organization in making this memorable day possible for our entire school community!

3-6 Track Meet Highlights 3-6 Track Meet Highlights

Our MES Bulldogs in grades 3–6 had an incredible day at the track meet on Friday, May 8th! 🏃‍♂️🏅🏃‍♀️

Students participated in a variety of field and running events, showing determination, teamwork, and Bulldog pride throughout the day. From sprints and relays to jumping and throwing events, our students worked hard, competed with great attitudes, and encouraged one another every step of the way.

We are so proud of the effort, sportsmanship, and perseverance our students demonstrated while also enjoying a beautiful day together outdoors. Great job, Bulldogs! ❤️🖤

🚸❗ MES Parking & Drop-Off Safety Notice 🚸❗ 🚸❗ MES Parking & Drop-Off Safety Notice 🚸❗

To help keep all students and families safe during preschool drop-off and pick-up—and during our regular daily drop-off times—please review the following important parking reminders:

🚫 Do Not Park in Front of the Gate at 10th & Carolina
This area must remain clear at all times. Parking in front of the gate blocks the crosswalk where many students and families need to safely cross before and after school or during drop-off.

Bus Lane Reminders
If you plan to exit your vehicle to walk your child to the building or conduct business in the office, please do NOT park in the bus lane in front of the school.
We must keep this lane open for:

  • Morning and afternoon bus traffic

  • Mid-day transportation bringing students to and from MES

Where You Can Park
For your convenience, parking is available:

  • In the stalls along Carolina Street

  • Along the south side of the concrete wall (parallel parking)

Gate Opening
The gates on 10th Street will be unlocked no later than 3:10 PM daily to allow students to safely cross from the playground and white top area.

ONE WAY on Alston Street

The one way on Alston Street going east from 10th Street to 11th Street was passed and signs are UP. PLEASE be prepared for this change for the traffic to flow in one direction Alston Street (behind the school building) when we return from break on Tuesday, January 6th.

Safety First
Our top priority is the safety of children and families during the busiest times of the day. Improper or illegal parking—such as blocking crosswalks or parking in the bus lane—may result in tickets or penalties issued by the Marysville Police Department.

Thank you for doing your part to keep our MES community safe, respectful, and responsible during arrival and dismissal!

25/26 MES Parent Handbook

25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK 25-26 MARYSVILLE ELEMENTARY STUDENT/PARENT HANDBOOK

Our Parent Handbook is an important resource that outlines the expectations, policies, and procedures for the school year. It includes information about academics, attendance, behavior expectations, communication, and ways families can stay engaged in their child’s learning.

We ask that families review the handbook occasionally so that everyone is familiar with our school guidelines. Please continue to reference it throughout the year whenever questions arise. Working together, we can ensure a safe, supportive, and successful school experience for every child.
