Mid-Year Reminder: Ensure Your Student's Emergency Contact Info Is Current Mid-Year Reminder: Ensure Your Student's Emergency Contact Info Is Current

We’re halfway through the school year, and we encourage our CVUSD parents/guardians to take a moment to review their child’s emergency contact information, including secondary contacts, that are within the Q ParentConnection portal (click "Parent Connection" and login with your user-specific credentials). It is important to identify and have included in your child’s school records a trusted adult guardian who can care for your child during an emergency, or should a situation arise when a parent/guardian is unable to pick up their child from school. Additionally, families can complete a Caregiver’s Authorization Affidavit (English) / Declaración Jurada de Autorización del Cuidador (Español) to give a trusted adult the authority to make educational and medical decisions for their children. A caregiver affidavit is necessary in the event that a parent or guardian is not able to care for their children.

Education Recovery Scorecard: CVUSD is Performing Above Pre-Pandemic Levels Education Recovery Scorecard: CVUSD is Performing Above Pre-Pandemic Levels

The Conejo Valley Unified School District is one of only 11 school districts in California recognized for performing above pre-pandemic levels in both math and reading via the Education Recovery Scorecard. This achievement highlights our District's commitment to excellence and resilience in education, which is made possible by the outstanding dedication and hard work of our community of educators, administrators, staff, students and families.

In its third year, the Education Recovery Scorecard (a collaboration between the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, The Educational Opportunity Project at Stanford University, and faculty at Dartmouth College) provides a high resolution picture of academic recovery in 8,719 school districts with either math or reading achievement data across 43 states. Building on the recent NAEP release, the Education Recovery Scorecard combines the NAEP results with state test results for roughly 35 million grade 3-8 students between 2019 and 2024, portraying district-level changes in achievement for individual communities across the country.

Teaming Up Towards Inclusion: CVUSD's a Supporting Inclusive Practices Grantee! Teaming Up Towards Inclusion: CVUSD's a Supporting Inclusive Practices Grantee!

We are proud to share that CVUSD is one of 94 school districts in California to earn a Supporting Inclusive Practices (SIP) Grant for the 2024-2025 school year. The CVUSD will receive $30,500 in funds to support its pursuit of inclusive and equitable systems from July 2024 through September 2026.

The SIP funds will be used for a myriad of initiatives to support inclusion in the CVUSD, including engaging activities for students, such as Unified Sports, and impactful professional learning and training for staff. This professional development for staff will include TK/Kindergarten teacher training for inclusion, Co-Teaching training for teachers and administrators, paraeducator training, and model teaching from elementary special educators.

The vision of SIP is, “for every student to be educated in an environment that is intentionally designed, equitable, and inclusive.” As a grantee, SIP will also provide assistance to the CVUSD through its three-tier system of support and resources.

CVUSD is proud to be a SIP grantee, and part of the coalition of districts and educators who are committed to working together to promote inclusion in the best interest of all students! Click here to read more.

Join Us - Parent/Guardian Workshop: Online Safety - How to Protect Your Children Join Us - Parent/Guardian Workshop: Online Safety - How to Protect Your Children

CVUSD Parents/Guardians, please join our BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and the Conejo Schools Foundation for a workshop on Online Safety presented by members of the Ventura County District Attorney, FBI and local law enforcement. This free, in-person event will take place TODAY, Tuesday, February 18th from 6pm to 7:30pm at University Center (2801 Atlas Avenue, Thousand Oaks).

This workshop will review online safety with tips and best practices for how to protect your children. Online safety is crucial in today's digital world, where kids and teens face risks like cyberbullying, scams, and harmful content. A serious issue is sextortion, where someone uses threats to get explicit material or money. Parents can help by keeping communication open, teaching safe online habits, and using privacy settings and parental controls. Together, families can create a safer internet experience for their children.
