Chat with Cruz-Jefferson (CJ) Chat with Cruz-Jefferson (CJ)

Happy Sunday, Boxer Families! Can you believe we are already starting Cycle 3?! We are officially entering our last grading cycle of the semester, and it feels like we just started the school year! While this is a short week, it's also a great opportunity for students to reset, refocus, and make sure they're starting this final cycle strong.

Students will receive their Cycle 2 report cards on Thursday, as Friday is a staff development day and there will be no school for students. Parents, please take some time to review those grades with your student. Remember, it's the semester average that ultimately counts, so even if the first two cycles didn't go exactly as planned, there is still an opportunity to make improvements. Now is the time to take advantage of tutorials, communicate with teachers, and make a plan to finish the semester successfully.

One thing I really want to emphasize as we enter this last cycle is attendance. This cycle, students who have already missed more than 10% of their instructional days in a course will begin receiving letters regarding NG (No Grade) makeup requirements. As a reminder, students who exceed the attendance limit are required to make up instructional time in order to receive credit for their courses, even if they have a passing grade. Students who do not recover their credit may be at risk of having to repeat the course.

Beyond the NG requirements, attendance is especially important right now because we're getting closer to final exams. Every day students miss is an opportunity lost to learn, practice, and receive support on the concepts they'll be expected to demonstrate at the end of the semester. We want our students walking into finals feeling confident and prepared, and being present and engaged each day is a big part of making that happen.

I know we're getting closer to the holidays, and there's a lot to look forward to, but let's make sure we're taking care of business along the way. This is a great time for students to check in on their own goals, make adjustments where needed, and take ownership of how they finish the semester. We've still got time to make this a strong finish!

And speaking of things to look forward to, we have some schoolwide spirit days coming up, including one hosted by a business owned by one of our very own Boxer families! This Wednesday, grab some boba with a friend or your family and help support Eastwood while you're at it. The business will donate 20% of the proceeds back to our school! I love opportunities like these because they allow us to support the families and businesses that are part of our community while also giving back to our students. More information is included below, so please check it out and come show some Boxer love!

Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Let's make the most of this short week and start Cycle 3 off strong!

Celebrations Celebrations

Fall Festival Fun — Rain or Shine!

What an AMAZING time we had at our Fall Festival on Friday! The rain may have tried to slow us down, but it certainly wasn't going to stop our Boxer community from having a great time! A huge THANK YOU to all of our students, families, staff, and volunteers who came out to celebrate with us and helped make the evening such a success!

A VERY special shoutout goes to our incredible Senior Class for putting in some serious WORK to make their annual Haunted House a HUGE hit! These students dedicated countless hours to planning, decorating, organizing, and bringing their vision to life, and their hard work absolutely paid off! Even if haunted houses aren't your thing (Mrs. CJ prefers to keep her heart rate at a healthy level, thank you very much!), you couldn't help but be impressed by the creativity, teamwork, and dedication these students demonstrated. They truly went above and beyond, and we are SO proud of what they accomplished!

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this year's Fall Festival such a fun and memorable event. Rain or shine, there's nothing quite like our Boxer community coming together!

Celebrating Our August (🫢) Boxers of the Month!

We may be a little late to the celebration, but there was NO WAY we were going to let our August Boxers of the Month go unrecognized! These students were selected for demonstrating a true commitment to one or more of the characteristics that define what it means to be a Boxer and live out the Boxer Way. Whether through their actions, attitudes, or the example they set for others, these students showed us what Boxer pride looks like in action! We are SO proud of each of you and grateful for the positive impact you make on our school community.

And don't worry, we're catching up! We'll be celebrating our September and October Boxers of the Month over the next two weeks, so stay tuned for even more student shoutouts! Congratulations again to our August honorees, and keep showing everyone what it means to be a Boxer!

Tardy Tracking is LIVE!

Starting last week, we began implementing our tardy pass procedures to help students arrive to class on time and maximize instructional time.

Once the tardy bell rings, teachers will close their classroom doors and begin instruction. Any student who arrives late will need to report to one of our three tardy stations to receive a pass before entering class:

  • 2nd Floor: Library
  • 1st Floor: Hallway near Room 105
  • Front Office

Students who accumulate 3 or more tardies during the week will be assigned lunch detention the following Friday. Tardy counts will reset at the beginning of each six-week grading cycle.

Please encourage your student to arrive to each class on time and ready to learn. Every minute of instruction matters, and we appreciate your partnership in helping our Boxers make the most of their school day!

No Cell Phone Policy

In accordance with Texas House Bill 1481 and to ensure an academically focused school environment, the use of personal communication devices is prohibited by law on school property during the instructional day. See the complete policy below, including consequences for infractions.

Please note that this also means we will no longer be able to order food delivery services during lunch, as the law states this also applies during lunch.
