Final newsletter for the 2024-2025 School Year

Greetings TVMS Families,

This past week we celebrated our 8th graders with a promotion ceremony honoring their growth, accomplishments and special memories they’ve shared with us during their time at TVMS. We wish them all the best as they move on to high school.

We also shared that our assistant principal, Mr. McMillan, will be transitioning to Oakland Mills High School for the 2025-2026 school year. We are grateful for his dedication to TVMS over the past two years and we wish him continued success in his new role.

This week we have some fun activities planned to close out the school year! Please note that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are 3-hour early dismissal days with dismissal at 12:15 PM.

Monday- Students will participate in indoor clubs based on their interests, followed by fun activities with their Den (homeroom), such as Kahoots, movies and digital escape rooms. Students should bring a charged Chromebook on this day.

Tuesday- It’s Field Day! Students will enjoy grade-level outdoor events. Chromebooks should stay home.

Wednesday- Students will visit all of their classes one last time and have the chance to say farewell to their friends and staff before summer break. Chromebooks should stay home.

We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer!

Thank you for your continued partnership,

Mrs. Denise Young, Principal

Important Immunization Requirements for 2025-2026 School Year - 7th Grade Students

Effective the first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year, 1 dose of Tdap vaccine and 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) are required by the state of Maryland for all students entering grade 7. Many students may have already received these immunizations, but the Health Room may not have the updated immunization record. Please contact your student’s doctor and send or fax an updated copy of your student’s immunizations to the Health Room or schedule an appointment to have your student receive these immunizations. Our fax number is 443-973-5510. The Health Department provides immunization opportunities for kids who are not up-to-date on school-required vaccinations. Call the Health Department at 410-313-7500 for more information and to schedule a vaccination appointment for your child.

If you have further questions, please email Cheryl Harris, TVMS School Nurse, at cheryl_harris@hcpss.org.

Student Service Learning Update Student Service Learning Update

As part of 6th and 7th grade third quarter science units, students have engaged in a Curricular Embedded Student Service Learning (SSL) experience. When students pass these courses in the third quarter, the 25 hours for SSL will be issued and will appear on the student report card. Similarly, there is a project in grade 8 social studies during the fourth quarter that will be documented this way. This is an updated process to ensure all students who have engaged in these learning experiences in middle school will be issued the hours if they pass that quarter. Students who do not pass the quarter of a course or are not enrolled in SSL embedded instruction will not receive hours. These students will have the opportunity to engage in high school courses that include SSL and/or engage in high school independent SSL projects. 75 Hours of SSL are required by MSDE for graduation and more information can be found on the HCPSS website here: https://www.hcpss.org/academics/service-learning/

Clothing to Cash Recycling Program -Donate over the Summer! Clothing to Cash Recycling Program -Donate over the Summer!

Our large white collection bin is at the edge of the school parking lot nearest Hanover Hills Elementary School. Please help us fill our bin with as many plastic bags of new or gently used clothing, shoes and other textiles. Our school will earn money for every pound we collect.

Outside Food Expectations

Food delivery services (i.e. Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.) are not allowed. Delivery will be refused as we do not have the capability to process this during the school day. If a parent would like to bring their child's lunch to the school, we ask that you do so prior to the start of your child's lunch shift. Parents will need to leave the lunch with our Front Office staff.
