WY STATE OFFICER TEAM IN DC!
GRAB YOUR CALENDARS
SkillsUSA Wyoming Advisors,
Our State Officer Team and I just returned from Washington DC where we attended the Washington Leadership Training Institute! Every WY Officer earned their Statesman Award after successfully completing all of the pre-conference work and the in-person interview at the conference.
While we were there, we visited Capitol Hill and met with Senator Barrasso as well as Congresswoman Hageman's staff. The officers asked great questions and advocated for continued support for SkillsUSA in WY. We were excited to hear that both Senator Barrasso and Congresswoman Hageman believe strongly in our program and Career and Technical Education in WY. These officers were direct, professional and asked intriguing questions. We are so proud of them!
Upcoming Events: Mid-America in Omaha, NE October 25-28. Mid-America Leadership Conference – Nebraska Skills USA Mid-America is an intensive 3 1/2 day event that will set your chapter and students up for success for the entire year! Please check this out! Registration is now open!
Mid-America Leadership Conference – Nebraska Skills USA
Fall Leadership Conference – SkillsUSA Wyoming
We are able to lower the registration cost for this conference from $45 to $25 per participant due to our very generous sponsors at WyoTech, The University of WY College of Education, and Oftedal. This is a great conference to attend to see what is new for SkillsUSA Wyoming and how to "Level Up" and make your chapter the best ever! Hope to see you there!
Full Calendar of Events: https://www.skillsusawyoming.org/calendar-of-events/
* SkillsUSA falls under the Wyoming High School Athletics Association umbrella. Most of our schools have registered their SkillsUSA chapter/ school with WHSAA, but we have a few stragglers. WHSAA will be reaching out to those superintendents directly to help you get this taken care of.
* We are holding the first Regional Welding Competition in WY this year to give our individual advanced welders more opportunities. This will be held February 26, 2027. Advisors will need to have the Regional Commitment form turned in to me by November 15th.
To be eligible to register and compete in the High School Regional Welding Competition, students must be registered and paid as SkillsUSA members! More details to come, but please get these important dates in your calendar if you have welders who would like to compete. Thanks to all of the contest chairs and advisors for working tirelessly on this to make it a success
As always, please reach out if I can help with anything at all.
