Week 9
Principal Notes
Hello Dover-Eyota Families!
We have been spoiled with the ongoing warm weather this fall. I think most of us are okay with it staying a bit longer knowing what will replace it. Anyway, happy last week of October. Our end of the quarter is coming quickly and so we will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate the completion of our first quarter down.
This week is always one that classes look forward to with the first celebration of our school year. Please remember no costumes, except preschool. There are many trunk-or-treats or trick-or-treating to do that they will be able to wear costumes for. However, if our football team wins their opening playoff game on Tuesday night this week, Halloween night we will be hosting the second game of the playoffs that night as well. Lots of events and happenings, please keep reading to find out more.
Have a great week!

Veteran's Program
On Wednesday, November 11th, we will be hosting a Veteran's Day Ceremony as we normally do at 2:15pm. We have a small space when we get everyone together, so we are only inviting Veteran's to attend with us at the school. A larger and more spacious program is available to others at the High School earlier in the day. We know more would like to attend, but we simply won't have the capacity to hold everyone, so please limit it to Veteran's attending. If they need assistance getting in, then yes, someone else may need to attend with them. We will do our best to Live Stream our ceremony on our Facebook page for the elementary, so others can see the program virtually. This is not a guarantee at this time, but we are making plans for this to happen.
Class Parties
Our first class party for the year will be on Friday, October 30th. Your child's teacher will have specifics as far as times go for the party during the day. We ask that you please follow the approved procedures for this day in regards to classroom visits and providing treats. The big procedures we need followed are providing only what has been agreed to with the classroom teacher. Please do not add to the treat list, as those have not been approved and we need to ensure that allergies won't be an issue with food that is brought in. Food must have a label and be prepackaged. No homemade goods will be accepted, because of allergies that students may have. This is a student safety issue.
Secondly, please respect visiting the rooms to which you sign up for. Please don't room hop on this day. Also, if you are not signed up, please do not show up, we have the volunteer numbers where they need to be for each class, more adults while well intended, usually further congests the room and makes for some unplanned moments of uncertainty in the room.
I appreciate you adhering to these requests, so we know who is in our building and what is entering the classroom for food, so we can try to keep all students safe.
Lost and Found
Every quarter we like to do a cleanout of the lost and found. The end of quarter 1 is on November 6th. We will make a donation run shortly after that day. We will not donate coats that get turned in between now and then, but sweatshirts has become the big filler. Classrooms will drop by a couple of times in the next two weeks to look through the lost and found. I would encourage you to also stop by as it works if you know something is missing. Please check-in at the office first and we will get you a visitors sticker to head down to take a look at our lost and found.
