Wilsonville High School was recently named a Unified Champion School, joining West Linn High School as one of just 126 schools in the nation to earn the prestigious distinction. Unified athletes were presented with their Champion School banner during a school assembly in December.

Wilsonville High School enjoys a Unified Soccer team for the fall season, a Unified Basketball team for the winter season, and a Unified Softball team in the spring. WHS competes against other Unified athletes across the Portland-Metro area throughout the year. Congratulations, Wilsonville High School!

Time is Running out to Provide Input for Future High School Learning Spaces

The Long Range Planning Committee will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 9 to continue their discussion around possible capital improvement projects for a potential Capital Bond. It's not too late to provide input of your own regarding future high school learning spaces as the Long Range Planning Committee and School Board look ahead to enrollment growth at the high school level.

For more information about the possibilities please visit the district website. To provide input of your own, fill out the district's High School Learning Space Possibilities Survey. The survey should take approximately 10 minutes.

Safety Spotlight — SafeOregon Tip Line

The SafeOregon Tip Line provides an anonymous reporting resource for students.

The goal of the SafeOregon tip line is to prevent threats to school safety by providing schools and communities with a relevant reporting tool. Tips can be submitted by students through email, phone, text messages, the Safe Oregon mobile app or web portal. Tips are quickly reviewed by SafeOregon technicians, and are then passed to school administrators and local law enforcement agencies. If the tip requires an urgent response, technicians from Safe Oregon will call 911 for immediate help, as well as provide information to West Linn-Wilsonville school administration or school officials.

West Linn-Wilsonville administration will respond to all tips in an appropriate and timely matter, which can include gathering more information, communicating with key stakeholders, using the District Threat Assessment System, using the District Suicide Risk Assessment process, connecting the student with additional resources, contacting law enforcement, or any other responses that are appropriate.

You can learn more about Safe Oregon at http://safeoregon.com/, or contact your child’s counselor for more information.

WLWV School Board Delays Reading and Approval of Comprehensive Sexuality Education Plan

In response to community questions and the school district’s desire to include parent feedback in the Comprehensive Sexuality Education Plan that is required by the State of Oregon, the district will host an additional Community Education Session on January 22 at the District Office; 22210 SW Stafford Road, Tualatin. Beginning at 6 p.m., parents are invited to hear an overview and review of both the process and the Sexuality Education Plan. There will be time for comments and questions at 7 p.m.

As with the previous four community meetings, questions and recommendations from the Jan. 22 session will be used in drafting the final plan.

The School Board will then review the plan for approval at the February 4 School Board meeting.

The system is routinely pruned of untouched accounts so even if you had previously subscribed, you should verify your subscriptions at https://www.flashalert.net/login.html. Please note that this is not a West Linn-Wilsonville system and we can provide only limited help.

Families should consider getting the free FlashAlert Messenger app from the Apple AppStore or Google PlayStore. Announcements will also be displayed on the local TV channels. During an event, we will also post an announcement on the district homepage.
