Golden Family Newsletter
August 21, 2026
Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,
We had a fantastic first two days of school, and I am truly looking forward to our first full week of learning at Golden High School. I was so impressed by how seamlessly our amazing students and teachers transitioned back into the school routine.
Student IDs & School Pictures Freshmen received their IDs and took pictures earlier this week. Students in grades 10–12 will take their photos and receive their IDs this coming Monday and Tuesday. Please remind your student that IDs are required at school every day and must be used during breakfast and lunch.
Schedule & Late Start Thursday We will operate on our normal bell schedule this week, including Homeroom, Demon Academy, and our regular late start on Thursday. Please note that Homeroom and Demon Academy are required periods, not off-periods, and attendance is recorded.
Thursday Transportation Note: Thursday is a late start (9:15 AM), but buses will pick up at their regular times. Breakfast will be served at 7:45 AM., and early-arriving students are welcome to wait in the cafeteria or outside.
Traffic & Parking Lot Safety Traffic and parking can be challenging at GHS. Over the past three years, we have worked closely with the city to add 50 additional parking spots, and while we know there is still work to do, safety remains our top priority. Please observe all traffic and parking rules, practice patience, and offer a little extra grace as everyone navigates the streets and parking lot during these first few weeks. Working together is the best way to keep our community safe.
Bus Loop Access The bus loop is strictly closed to student drop-off and pick-up from 7:45–8:20 a.m., 3:00–3:45 p.m., or at any other time buses are actively parked in the loop.
Looking Ahead As we step into this new academic year, I want to emphasize that our doors and lines of communication are always open. High school is a journey best taken together, and our entire administrative team, faculty, and staff are here to support your family every step of the way. Whether through academics, athletics, the arts, or student activities, we are committed to helping every student find their place and thrive at Golden High School.
Thank you for your trust, energy, and partnership. I am excited to see all the great things our students and staff will accomplish this year!
In partnership,
John Graham
Principal, Golden High School

PTA Updates
💙 Become a PTA Member
Joining the PTA is one of the easiest ways to support our students and staff. Membership helps fund classroom resources, events, teacher appreciation, and more. Even if you can’t volunteer, becoming a member strengthens our community and ensures we can continue offering meaningful programs. Every membership truly matters.
Picture Day volunteers needed
Our students have picture day coming up on August 24th and 25th, and we can use your help with getting them lined up and ready for their new student ID's. If you are available to volunteer for any of the time slots below, we will appreciate your help! Thank you so much!
🎉 After‑Prom Chair Needed
We’re looking for a dedicated parent to lead this year’s After‑Prom Committee. After‑Prom is one of our most loved traditions — a safe, fun, memory‑making night for our students. The chair coordinates volunteers, activities, and decorations (don’t worry, you’ll have a full team behind you). If you enjoy planning events or just want to help create something special for our teens, we’d love to have you. If interested, please email president@goldendemonspta.org
🛍️ Silent Auction Chair Needed
Our annual Silent Auction is the backbone of our PTA budget — it funds nearly all of our programs for the year. We’re seeking a chair to organize item collection, oversee bidding logistics, and help promote the event. If you’re organized, creative, or simply passionate about supporting our school, this role makes a huge impact. If interested, please email president@goldendemonspta.org.
