Fun days for Red Ribbon Week Fun days for Red Ribbon Week

Please thank Martha Cavalcante and all those that helped make this week so much fun. Students, parents and teachers really got into the spirit and helped prepare our minds to stay away from things that are addictive.

Don't forget daylight saving time ends! Don't forget daylight saving time ends!

Time "falls back" on Sun. Nov. 3.

How Interesting!- Benjamin Franklin proposed a form of daylight time in 1784. Writing as an anonymous "subscriber", his tongue-in-cheek essay, "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light", written to the editor of The Journal of Paris, observed that Parisians could save on candles by getting out of bed earlier in the morning, making use of the natural morning light instead. By his calculations, the total savings by the citizens of Paris would be the approximate equivalent of $200 million today. Franklin's suggestion seems to have been more of a joke than a real proposal, and nothing came of it.

KAES Bible Challenge KAES Bible Challenge

This year our theme is Rooted, encouraging our students to become strong in God's word. To help with this we are having a Bible Challenge in December. Attached are the verses we are asking students to study and become familiar with. In December we will compete in groups of 6 or 7 to see how well we have put God's Word in our hearts. We believe that this will be a fun way to test our ability to learn His Word. This is not to be a burden. We are encouraging students to take time to regularly read or listen to the verses. Parents, you may want to read a few verses each night during family worship or listen to a few verses on the way to school. During the Bible challenge, teams will be given questions over the verses. There will be two types of questios: True or False and multiple choice. Questions will be read outloud and visible on the screen. Students will have 15 secounds to answer each question.

With the Acrofest show running to 2:30. We are asking KAES parents to plan to pick up 30 minutes later at 2:30pm. Or even better, just come and enjoy the show with your child's class. Once the program starts, it will be to difficult to get your child until after the program. If you need to pickup your child early, please pick up by 1 pm.

Traffic and parking will be more challenging this coming Friday when we dismiss at 2:30pm. Please be patient with our visitors. We will reserve the parking in front of the buildings for pickup. Please do not use these spaces to park while you catch up with friends. Use the side lots for visitation.

Families are welcome to attend this event. I am told that not many tickets are avalible for Acrofest. So this is the best way to see some of the performances.
