GCF Families,

Report cards will be coming home on Tuesday! Along with report cards, students will receive their Mastery Connect benchmark reports from our first benchmark of the school year.

This is our first year using the Mastery Connect platform, and we are excited about the detailed reports it provides to help us better understand student progress and identify areas for growth. As we continue learning the platform, we are also working to align our pacing with the assessments. We expect the results to become even more accurate and reflective of student learning as we move into Benchmark #2. Please keep this in mind as you review your child’s results, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions about their performance.

We also ask that you take time to review the benchmark report with your student and complete the accompanying reflection sheet together. Students will need to return the completed reflection sheet to their teachers.

During the month of November, we will honor the Veterans who have served our country by displaying their photos on our Wall of Honor banner at Grover C. Fields Middle School.

In addition, we will host a Veterans Day Program for students on Thursday, November 5, 2026, and will recognize and honor our Veterans in a slideshow.

You may upload a photo using this form, or your student may bring a printed photo to school.

To be included in the Veteran's Day Program slideshow, please submit photos by November 2nd.

Halloween is approaching and we are looking forward to a fun day at GCF! We will have an after-school dance on Friday, 10/30. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5 and the PTO will be selling concessions. We hope all students will be able to join us! Students must be able to be picked up promptly at 5 p.m. in order to be able to stay for the dance!

Students may wear their Halloween costumes to school on Friday, 10/30. Costumes must still be within our school dress code and adhere to the additional expectations of:

-no masks

-no fake weapons

-no gory or full-faced makeup

• October 26: Wrestling Tryouts from 3:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• October 27: Report Cards issued to students
• October 28 and 29: Boys Basketball Tryouts from 3:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• October 30: Afterschool Halloween Dance from 3:40 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. ($5 plus concessions)
• November 2 and 4: Girls Basketball Tryouts from 3:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• November 3: Teacher Workday- no school for students
• November 6: Honor Roll and Principal's List Ceremony at 8:45 a.m.
• November 11: Holiday- no school for students or staff
• November 25-27: Thanksgiving Break

Grover C. Fields will uses the DragonFly platform to collect and manage team participation and eligibility. All athletic paperwork/physical forms will now be completed using the following process:

• Step 1: Parents, please visit http://dragonflymax.com to set up a parent account.

• Step 2: Create a student athlete account/profile for each CCS student-athlete in your family.

• Step 3: Begin the process of completing requirements, including uploading pages 3 and 4 of the NCHSAA physical form which are the “Physical Examination Form” and “Medical Eligibility Form”. Both must be signed by your physician. Physicals are valid for 395 days.

Visit https://www.nchsaa.org/health-and-safety/ for current forms. You can also find Dragonfly registration information and Physical Examination Form on the CCS District Website. You can find the physical form under "For Parents and Students".

All forms for student athletes participating in sports must be completed and submitted in Dragonfly before student-athletes are eligible to try out for a team.
