The Cozine Connection

Hi Climber Families!

As we wind down this school year, we wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support and kindness. We truly have the best school community!

In Kindness,
Dr. Jodi Notch, Mrs. Lisa Dalton, and Ms. Tamara Martinezjunco

In an effort to be transparent and help prevent concern, we wanted to let you know that Cozine's campus will be used as a training site for NLV from May 11 through May 15 and May 18 through May 22 from 4:00pm to midnight. If you happen to drive by on those dates and you see a heavy police presence, know that everything is fine and that officers are training to support schools, school zones, and community safety.

As you may have heard, school bell times for the 2026-2027 school year have been changed. Cozine's student times will be 9:15-3:26. This is 15 minutes later than in previous years. Students can arrive on campus at 9:00 for breakfast before class. As a reminder, students are not permitted on campus before 9:00 unless they are in SafeKey or in a club/sport. Cozine's office hours will remain 7:30-4:00 to allow time for support before and after the student academic day.

Next week, May 11-15, is College and Career Week at Cozine ES. We will have speakers on campus all week to share various professions and a Careers on Wheels presentation on Tuesday including various jobs that work from or with vehicles.

There will be a simple Spirit Week to go along with the theme of the week:

Monday - College Spirit Day: Wear your favorite college gear or colors

Tuesday - Your Future is Bright: Wear your sunglasses and bright colors

Wednesday - Dress for Success: Dress like you're heading to a job interview

Thursday - Dress Like Your Teacher Day: Show off your best teacher-inspired look

Friday - Career Dress Day - Dress as what you want to be when you grow up

Online registration for CCSD’s 2026-2027 school year is now open.

All families must register their students every year, even if their students are currently enrolled in a CCSD school. The registration process allows families to update important information, such as parent/guardian contact information and emergency contacts. This includes current cell and work phones, home addresses, and emergency contact information.

Families may begin their registration process online at ccsd.net/enroll from a computer, phone, or tablet.

Families with students currently enrolled at a CCSD school can complete registration using Campus Parent via Infinite Campus. Parents/guardians are encouraged to ensure all contact information is up to date. This includes cell and work phones, home addresses, and emergency contact information.

Parents/Guardians with an Infinite Campus account will see an announcement in Campus Parent with a link to the 2026-2027 registration page. In certain areas, families with multiple children can copy responses from one child to the next to save time during the registration process.

For more information: visit ccsd.net.

Mark your calendars for these upcoming dates:

Thank you for staying on top of things and helping us get ready for another fantastic school year!

Cozine has a small parking lot, and our lot is closed off to general traffic to keep our students safe as they walk to school. CCSD employees, school buses, and anyone holding a valid Handicapped Pass are permitted into our parking lot. Please see Cozine duty personnel if you fall into this category and need to enter the lot.

Also, to keep traffic patterns predictable for students that do walk, we allow traffic to enter our parking lot at the north entrance and exit through the south exit. Our staff enforces this to keep everyone safe, and we appreciate you helping them with this by following this pattern.

At Cozine, students are required to keep their personal communication devices off and in their backpacks during instructional hours. Students are permitted to use their phones before and after school and if there is an emergency on campus. This aligns with District policy that helps prevent bullying, cyber bullying, unfiltered internet access, and cheating. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to the office or school administration. At this time, we will not be using the signal blocking cell phone pouches at Cozine ES.
