FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL

Hello Tiger Families,

I hope things are well and life is starting to settle down as we head into the fall months. We are wrapping up our fall sports and heading more into our winter ones with wrestling and girls basketball. Believe it or not, we have 2 weeks left in this 1st quarter. This can be a reality check for some students as quarter grades come out, but it's not something that can't be overcome with hard work for the second quarter. October seems to the be the month when students settle down and the schedule becomes more routine. I would encourage every family to come to parent/teacher conferences in order to get the full scoop on your student's academic progress.

Thank you,

Ryan Kuntz- Principal

Picture Retakes-October 12th

We will have picture retakes on October 12th. This will be for any parent who is not satisfied with the photos that were taken in August. If you would like your student's pictures retaken you must bring back the original package on the 12th. For those students that were absent or were not enrolled at MHJH in August, their picture will be taken. Parents can purchase pictures packages by clicking here. and typing "Mountain Home Junior High" in the 'Find your school' task bar.

Girls Basketball/Boys and Girls Wrestling

Our basketball and wrestling seasons are upon us. The season starts for both sports on October 5th.

Wrestling is available for both boys and girls. Girls' wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports in America right now and we generally have many girls come out for the team. The girls only wrestle against other girls, but it's a great way to learn discipline and hard work. We invite all girls and boys to come out and try wrestling! Practice will be at Mountain Home High School wrestling room from 3:15-5:15 each day. The students will walk over after school. The wrestling room is above the main gym.

Girl's basketball is a great way to get involved too. Try-outs will be at Hacker for the 7th graders and at MHJH for the 8th graders. We are looking forward to having a great turn out!

All basketball players and wrestlers must have paperwork and sports physicals completed before practicing. If they played football, volleyball or ran cross-country they are good to go and nothing else is needed. Please click here for the information regarding the paperwork and season schedules

We invite all parents/guardians to come to our parent/teacher night!

Impact Aid Cards

Federal survey cards (Impact Aid Cards) will be distributed on Tuesday, October 14th. Each year, the Mountain Home School District, along with other districts around the country, send out the Federal Survey cards to qualify for a partial reimbursement for educating federally connected students, such as children whose parents work or live on federal property. The program was created by Congress to assist school districts that lose tax revenues (e.g. income, sales and property taxes) due to a federal presence. Received funds go to all qualifying local school districts and can be used to hire teachers, purchase textbooks and computers, pay for utilities and more. We ask for your assistance in completing and returning these cards as quickly as possible.

Finals Week Schedule for Semester

I realize you may be asking yourself, "Why is he talking about finals week in October?" The reason is because I want to communicate clearly with all families that we do have a finals week here at MHJH and it is manditory that your student attends in order to get full credit for their classes. The schedule is as follows:

December 15: Social Studies/Electives

December 16: English and Science

December 17: Math

Finals will not be given early, please plan accordingly with your holiday break plans.

Chromebook Information

Each student will be issued a chromebook and charger the first week of school. We ask that the students are responsible to return both items, in May, in the same shape they received them in August (Responsibility). We recognize that accidents happen, which is why we offer a chromebook protection plan. This plan is only $15 and covers the chromebook if any damage happens to it. You can purchase the protection plan here.
