Social-emotional Learning Surveys
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners. As you may already be aware, building social-emotional learning (SEL) skills continues to be an important goal for our schools this year. Specifically, all students will participate in a social-emotional check-in beginning on September 30th. The goal is to all have all grades complete a check-in by October 9th. Grades K-2 will complete hard copy surveys as part of Guidance Instruction. For grades 3-5 the district partners with a third-party vendor, Panorama, to support us in administering these check-ins and students receive the check-in via email.
Student Council Spirit Wear Store
The Student Council is proud to announce the return of the Spirit Wear store. The Store will open up on September 15th and close on October 6th.

WSSD Electronic Device Policy/NPE Student Handbook
Personal electronic devices, such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, and similar items, can be significant distractions in the classroom, impacting both student learning and social development.
These devices are defined as any personal item that can:
- Take photos or record video
- Make calls or send messages
- Connect to the internet
- Use apps, GPS, or audio
To support a focused learning environment that promotes each child’s academic success and social-emotional well-being, the updated policy outlines clear expectations for device use at each school level. We encourage you to review these expectations and discuss them with your child(ren) as we begin the new school year.
Elementary School (Grades K–5)
- Students are not permitted to use devices during the school day unless the principal grants permission for educational purposes.
- Storage: Devices must be turned off and stored in backpacks.
In Case of Emergency
Please refrain from calling or texting your child during the school day. If an urgent matter arises, please contact the school’s main office, and staff will promptly relay the message. For non-urgent communication, we encourage you to wait until after school hours.
Students do not need a phone in school, and they can access the phone in the main office or in the school counselors’ offices if they need to make a call during the school day.
