What's Going on at Webster
Welcome
Happy Halloween, Webster!
What a perfect way to wrap up the week, with a little Halloween fun! Our halls are full of costumes, big smiles, and lots of school spirit today. The fun doesn't stop though; tonight Student Council will be hosting The Halloween Dance from 6:30-8:30 PM. Please see below for more information! Quarter One is flying by, and we’re so proud of the effort and energy our students have shown both in and out of the classroom. Next Thursday, November 5, marks the end of Quarter 1 here at Webster! As we look ahead we want to let everyone know our Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on November 19 and November 23 from 3:30–7:00 PM. There will be more information to come regarding conferences. These are arena-style conferences, so no need to sign up in advance. We encourage all families to stop by, chat with teachers, and celebrate the great work students have done so far this year. It’s also a great chance to set goals and gear up for Quarter Two!
We hope everyone enjoys a fun, candy-filled, and relaxing Halloween weekend! You’ve earned it!

Webster Reminders
CSD Chromebook Reminders!
Please take a moment to talk with your student about appropriate use of their Chromebook. Student Chromebooks are property of the Cedarburg School District. Students are expected to follow ROAR expectations when using and caring for their device. Students who do not follow ROAR expectations with their Chromebook are subject to disciplinary consequences.
🚲Electric Bikes & Scooters Reminder
We would like to ask families to please remind your students that bikes and electric scooters should be parked only in the designated bike racks and parking areas. They should never be ridden on Webster service roads or in parking lots. For everyone’s safety, all electric bikes and scooters must be walked off Webster property.
Thank you for helping us keep our school grounds safe!
✅Attendance Guidance
We would like to remind you of our attendance guidelines as we start this school year to ensure clear communication and accurate record-keeping. Each student is allotted 10 parent permission days and 5 sick days for the school year. Absences over these allotted days will be counted as unexcused. If your child will be absent, please report the absence by calling the attendance line at 262-376-6500, logging it in Skyward, or emailing our attendance office at wmsattendance@cedarburg.k12 If you have any questions or need assistance, please check out our CSD Attendance FAQ or don’t hesitate to contact the Webster Office.
Safety First!
🚨Morning Supervision
Please be aware Webster student supervision begins at 7:05 AM. Any student who is dropped off prior to this is unsupervised.
🚗Pick Up & Drop Off
As a reminder, the back of Webster serves as the designated drop-off location for parents during both student arrival and dismissal, while the front area remains reserved for our buses. To ensure the safety of all students, we kindly request that families adhere to the guidance provided by our teachers during pick-up and drop-off times. Students are required to be picked up curbside and should not cross traffic on their own. We ask that you refrain from parking in the middle of the back parking lot and follow the designated line when directed to move forward, as this helps prevent students from having to navigate between vehicles. Additionally, please encourage your child to wait until your car has come to a complete stop before approaching it. By working together, we can prioritize safety for everyone involved. Please exercise caution and patience during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please review this presentation to review our pick up & drop off procedures!
Important Safety & Traffic Notice
We would like to remind families that this year the Cedarburg Police Department has full authorization to issue traffic citations for violations on School District property. Drivers who disregard posted traffic signs, including stop signs, no-parking zones, and turn restrictions, may be ticketed by CPD.

Grade Level Highlights
6th Grade
We started the week off with an all-grade assembly focused on kindness. Students worked together to show Mr. Skipper kindness by helping him find a gift card after he was blindfolded! We also learned about our upcoming Turkey Trot and Halloween Dance. Students were encouraged to find ways to show kindness throughout their day.
Coming up, we can’t believe that we are almost 1/4th of the way through the year! Students were reminded to check Canvas and Skyward as the quarter ends. We have enjoyed watching them grow and learn so far this year. We look forward to seeing you all at conferences in a few weeks.
7th Grade
Social Studies
Students are writing their Declarations of Independence to show they understand the framework of that historical document. They are also preparing for their Revolutionary War summative by examining multiple perspectives from different groups during the war. Students began the unit by examining the causes and effects of the French and Indian War. We then learned about colonial reactions to British economic and political policies following the French and Indian War. This led students to describe the causes of the American Revolution and the meaning and significance of creating the Declaration of Independence. Next, we will learn about our first governments in the new country, as well as the creation of our Constitution.
8th Grade
Science
Students are finishing up our "Atom and Periodic Table" unit. Students learned about atomic structure and the properties of the periodic table. Students also performed a fun flame test lab where they burned different metal salts to see the flame change colors. In our next unit, we will explore physical and chemical changes and do a lot of interesting labs.
Upcoming Assessments:
- Marcks: Element Test Wed, Nov 4.
- Rogahn: Atom and Periodic Test Wed, Nov 4.
Allied Arts Highlights
Project Lead the Way
Automation & Design
Students are wrapping up Unit One by using the Engineering and Design Process to create a prototype for a real-world application. They had the opportunity to choose several challenges to solve. They chose one, developed sketches, created functional prototypes, and then coded their solutions to meet specifications. This week, students presented their solutions to the class with a short demonstration of their robot, and discussed their successes and challenges along the way to their final prototype.
Design & Modeling II
Eighth graders started the year off by reviewing drawing skills on Inventor that are necessary for their powered boat project! Students will begin the Engineering & Design Process by creating an air-powered boat. They will need to draw their model in Inventor, make an orthographic drawing, and then execute their plan in the lab!
Flight
Webster needs clearance for takeoff! Students launched their rocket prototypes this past week. The sixth graders used their knowledge of the four forces of flight, paired with their knowledge of rocket stability, to create an air-powered rocket. Using the Design and Engineering Process, students sketched several fin ideas, drew them on Inventor, and sent them to the laser to be cut out. After assembling the fins, rocket body, and nose cone, they were cleared for takeoff! The next unit focuses on measuring and basic blueprint reading to create a functional prototype of a hot air balloon.
Design and Modeling
3D modeling is a unit where students learn how to take 2D shapes in CAD software and turn them into 3D objects. Students sketch several keychain designs, then use their new skills to create a functional 3D model. After completing their model, they create an orthographic drawing using the CAD software!
