St Anthony's School News

Week 7 - Thursday 4th June 2026
St Anthony's School community works collaboratively to teach and live the values of Christ. While respecting tradition, and to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society, it strives to educate our children to their full potential.
Principal's Address
God of creation, thank you for the beauty of winter-
for icy winds, frosty mornings,
evergreen and bare trees,
warm coats, and hot chocolate.
Help us to appreciate Your creation in all its glory,
this winter and always. Amen
Upcoming Events
Calm Space
We have a number of children who find it difficult at times to regulate their emotions. To better meet their needs, we have created a Calm Space for them should the teacher feel they would benefit from a short period out of the classroom. In having a space away from the demands of the classroom, the child is better able to refocus and re-enter the classroom with a more settled and positive mindset. I would like to thank the P&F for their donation that enabled us to repurpose and furnish the Mercy Room into a Calm Space.
Wheelchairs for Kids
If you have too many teddies lying around the house or your children have outgrown the need for a teddy, please consider donating them to Wheelchairs for Kids.
Wheelchairs for Kids is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organisation providing wheelchairs for children in impoverished and under resourced communities both in Australia and around the globe. The all-terrain wheelchairs are manufactured at their workshop in Wangara and are donated to children all over the world who otherwise would not be able to afford a wheelchair. Each donated wheelchair includes a teddy bear and a lap blanket.
Teddy bears should be no larger than an A4 piece of paper and can be left in a box outside the school library. Further information about Wheelchairs for Kids can be seen on their website: https://wheelchairsforkids.org/
Wheelchairs for Kids also collect aluminium ring pulls from cans. These are sent away to be processed and go towards the manufacture of components for the wheelchairs. If you have aluminium cans at home, please collect the ring pulls and send them to school. We will then pass them on to Wheelchairs for Kids.
God Bless

SEQTA Engage for School Reports
St Anthony's School utilises the SEQTA Engage Parent Portal for parents to access student reports for students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 at the end of each semester. If you have not already done so, please log in to SEQTA Engage to ensure you can access your child's report.
To do this, you need to go to the following site: https://stanthonys.engage.cewa.edu.au/ and use your current username and password. This link is also found at the bottom of the school webpage under 'Quick Links'.
If you have remembered your username but have forgotten your password, please click the 'Forgot your Password?' link, and an immediate email will be sent to you. The password reset link in the email will expire within one hour, so please action this immediately.
If you have forgotten both of these, then please contact the school, and we can remind you of your username.
Reports will be available from Friday, the 3rd of July, at 3:00 pm.
School Reports Update
As we approach the upcoming Semester 1 reporting period, we would like to advise families of an important change to student reports.
Previously, reports at St Anthony’s included both individual strand grades and an overall grade for each learning area. For example, within English, parents would see separate grades for Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening, in addition to an overall English grade.
Following updated reporting direction from Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA), reports will now display overall subject grades only. Individual strand grades will no longer appear on student reports.
While this represents a change in the format of reporting, it does not change the depth of assessment or the careful consideration teachers give to understanding and monitoring each child’s progress. Teachers continue to assess students across the various strands and components within each learning area throughout the semester. This assessment information remains central to planning, teaching and reporting.
The change to providing an overall grade only reflects the understanding that achievement in a learning area is broader than a simple collection of separate strand results. The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) advises that overall grades are determined through professional teacher judgement against the achievement standards, using the range of evidence collected over time.
This means teachers consider the full picture of a student’s achievement when determining an overall grade. For example, a student may demonstrate differing levels of achievement across various aspects of a subject, and teachers use their professional expertise and knowledge of the achievement standards to make an informed overall judgement of the student's achievement.
We understand that families value clear and meaningful information about their child’s learning. Although reports will no longer include individual strand grades, teachers remain committed to providing feedback that identifies strengths, areas for growth and next steps for learning. Parent–teacher meetings and ongoing communication will continue to play an important role in supporting your child's progress.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we implement these reporting changes. If you have any questions regarding student reports, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

🥜Allergy Aware School🥜
We would like to remind families that St Anthony's is an allergy aware school. Therefore, for the health and safety of children and staff with allergies, peanut butter, Nutella, nuts and muesli bars containing nuts are not to be included in your child’s lunch.
Medical News
We have had an increase of absentees and illnesses through our school community over the last few weeks.
If your child is not well – sore throat, fever, persistent cough and/or an upset stomach – please keep them at home until all symptoms have resolved. Your child must be fever free for 24 hours, without medication, prior to returning to school. Your child may want to continue coming to school; however, this will only spread viruses/illnesses to other students and staff. Please continue to remind your children to practice good hand hygiene and etiquette.
Our school medical illness protocol is below. Please refer to this regarding your child’s medical condition.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and well.
