Welcome Back Highlanders!

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

Each year, a student must apply for free or reduced lunches. If you have applied in the past, you must reapply. Please visit the Child Nutrition website to apply for the year. Current students with free or reduced lunch accounts who do not reapply will expire in September, 2025.

Schedule Changes

Students should have already submitted their schedule change requests and communicated with their counselor. If your student has submitted a request but has not received a response, please encourage them to follow up directly with their counselor. Starting next week, schedule change requests to adjust levels in core courses may still be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, elective change requests are now closed.

College Board Accommodations Requests

If you have a student who receives Section 504 or Special Education services, is eligible to take an AP, SAT, or PSAT test next school year and currently receives testing accommodations through a 504 plan or Special Education plan, your student can request to have similar accommodations on these tests. The College Board officially approves/denies any requested accommodations.

Requesting accommodations with the College Board is a one time process and applies to all College Board tests (PSAT, SAT, and AP). If your student has approved accommodations through the College Board from a previous submission, there is nothing else you need to do at this time. Your student will receive those accommodations on any of the tests above. If you’re unsure, you can check your student’s College Board account for the list of approved accommodations for your student. If changes need to be made, please complete the forms below.

All 10th and 11th grade students take the PSAT free of charge at TWHS. There is no sign-up for the test. All 10th and 11th graders are eligible.

Deadline for October testing is August 27th. Process for Requesting Accommodations:

There are TWO Options:

Option 1: Complete both the Consent Form and the Accommodations Request. They are both embedded in this Google Form. You will need to print out, complete, and upload the Consent Form back into the Google Form.

Option 2: Complete the Consent Form HERE with Adobe Pro or similar editing software, save to your desktop, and upload it to the Google Form.

A few notes:

1. It can take the College Board up to 8 weeks to approve/deny the request for accommodations for your student.

2. The College Board will contact you directly letting you know the accommodations have been approved/denied.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact Mrs. Tabor ktabor@conroeisd.net.

CLINIC NOTES CLINIC NOTES

Your school nurses this year are Alana Ansley at the Senior Campus, aransley@conroeisd.net or 936-709-1076, and Erica Falcon at the Ninth Grade Campus, efalcon@conroeisd.net or 832-592-8209. We are available in the clinic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on school days.

● A new state law that goes into effect September 1st (SB 12) year requires that parents give written consent for staff members to take care of your child at school. This includes things like taking temperatures, giving out bandaids, administering medication that parents have checked in, or conducting hearing and vision screening. You are able to make that decision when completing the annual online enrollment for your students. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the clinic. If you did not complete online enrollment this summer, or previously selected No and wish to change your consent, please complete and return this form: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wdVYBpHAyXoaYAhigV90diTZT-JybWBd/view.

● As we are completing enrollment for this school year, we are contacting parents/guardians by email for students who have any overdue vaccines or expiring Conscientious Objector exemptions. Please take care of any missing vaccines promptly so that your student may remain enrolled.

● If your student requires any medications while they are on campus, they must be checked in to the clinic or athletic trainers by a parent or guardian. Students may not transport medication to or from school. All medications must be in their original, labeled container, unexpired, and we ask that you provide no more than a 30-day supply.

● Students with chronic medical conditions such as asthma, severe allergies, diabetes, or seizures are required to have a new action plan signed by their doctor and parent each school year. We highly encourage students to carry their own Epi-Pen or inhaler; those do need to be accompanied by a Medication Self-Carry form. This form must also be provided to the clinic to be kept on file throughout the school year. Please refer to https://www.conroeisd.net/page/healthservices for copies of those forms.

● If your student has a medical need to access his or her phone during the school day for critical things such as monitoring blood glucose levels or monitoring a pacemaker, please be sure to provide doctor’s orders for the current school year to the clinic, and we will inform the staff of that need.

SCHOOL CASH ONLINE: Please be sure to check your child's School Cash Online account frequently. The website is www.conroeisd.schoolcashonline.com. Fees are added throughout the year for various activities. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fees charged to your child, please contact the classroom teacher or club sponsor. Failure to pay fees listed as "required" or "overdue" may result in a student not being permitted to participate in some extracurricular activities. If you need assistance logging in to School Cash Online or adding and viewing your child's account, please visit schoolcashonline.com/Home/Support and view the resources available to help.

WELCOME CENTER SUPPORT FOR NEW FAMILIES: Welcome, Families! We hope you had a wonderful summer and enjoyed some relaxing, fun-filled days. Now that we are back, we are truly excited to welcome you!

The Newcomer center will be offering a special orientation session in Spanish for all families who are new to our school district. This is the only session that will be offered this semester in Spanish, so we encourage you to mark your calendars and make plans to attend.

We understand how challenging it can be to move to a new country—especially when English is not your first language. Communication barriers can make things even harder, and your children’s success depends in part on how well you understand the school system and the cultural differences that come with this new experience.

That’s why we warmly invite you to join us for an informative and welcoming session at The Jett Center, 19043 David Elementary Dr., Shenandoah, on September 4th at 9:30 a.m. in room 217. Please RVSP to Iytzia Cardenas at (icardenas@conroeisd.net).

If you know someone who could benefit from this session, please feel free to share the invitation with them. We want to ensure all families feel supported and informed as they begin this new chapter. We look forward to seeing you there!
