Riverfront School

October 2026
From the Principal
It is hard to believe we are already one month into the school year! We have had a great start at Riverfront, and I wanted to share a little about how we began the year.
On the first day of school, we held class meetings and talked with students about our four Core Values: Kind, Responsible, Respectful, and Safe. Students were asked to share what these values look like and sound like at Riverfront.
The students had some great responses and ideas. We want our Core 4 Values to be something students understand and use throughout the school year, not just words posted in the classroom.
Students will also have opportunities to earn points for making positive choices and demonstrating our Core 4 Values. These points can be used toward participation in school-wide activities and incentives throughout the year.
We look forward to continuing to build a positive school community with our students throughout the year.
Warmly,
Nancy

Attendance Incentives
Daily attendance continues to be a priority at Riverfront. We share our attendance numbers during daily announcements to help students stay focused on being in school each day.
Students who have perfect attendance for the month are automatically entered into a gift card raffle. Each month, the class with the highest attendance will receive a Popcorn & Movie Party, a feature in our newsletter, and a morning shoutout.
We will also continue our year-long “Pie This Guy!” challenge. Students have opportunities throughout the year to earn a chance to pie Mr. Pascal at our end-of-year assembly through perfect attendance and other attendance incentives.
PBIS & Character Education
Our PBIS program recognizes students for making positive choices and demonstrating our Core 4 Values: Kind, Responsible, Respectful, and Safe. Teachers award PBIS points when students demonstrate these expectations.
Each month, the class in each grade level with the highest average points will receive a Championship Trophy.
Every two months, students will have opportunities to participate in school-wide activities based on the points they have earned. Activities may include dodgeball, relay races, and staff-vs.-student games. Students will have different opportunities to participate based on their point totals.
We will also highlight a character trait each month, such as kindness, honesty, or perseverance. Students who demonstrate these traits and serve as positive examples to others will be recognized.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application
Please take a few minutes to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application for your family. Even if your child does not eat school meals regularly, completing the application is important because it helps our district determine eligibility for meal benefits and can provide additional support and resources for our schools.
Applications are confidential and should be completed as soon as possible. If you have already completed an application for this school year, no further action is needed.
If you have questions or need assistance completing the application, please contact the school office.

Curbside Loading Only: Students must enter vehicles directly from the curb—never through active traffic lanes.
Additionally, parking is not permitted on East Front Street in front of the school.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe!

School Clubs, Climate & Culture
26-27 Fall Clubs
This year, Fall Clubs will be divided into two separate five-week sessions instead of one ten-week session. In previous years, the ten-week session limited participation to only 25 students. By offering two five-week sessions, we are able to provide more students with the opportunity to participate in our Fall Clubs. Each session will accommodate up to 25 students, allowing a total of 50 students to participate throughout the fall. We are excited to expand this opportunity and provide more of our students with the chance to get involved!
Permission Slips with be emailed on October 1st to the students & parents who have gotten into Fall Clubs. Please remember clubs are first come first serve, if permission slips are not completed by 10/2 we will move on to the next person in line on the wait list.

Mrs. Park's Class Learning about Electoral College
We did a simulation in E and I for 8th grade learning about the electoral college. The kids were running against each other for presidency. They had to refer to a fact sheet about how many votes each state would give them. They also applied strategy to add up their votes and sabotage their opponent. There were situation cards that would impact their campaign in positive and negative ways.
They had a great time learning about the electoral college in this interactive way!
