THE LIONS DEN
Schweitzer Newsletter October/November 2024
Albert Schweitzer families,
We have had quite a busy October and November! So many activities have happened including Monster Mash, our Halloween Parade, Barnes & Noble Night, and Pajama Day! Instructionally, Schweitzer has been hard at work holding building-level and grade-level data meetings to align WIN (What I Need) instruction to current student levels. Please support your child(ren) at home by guiding them through homework, instilling daily reading habits, and encouraging a positive attitude about school.
Thank you to families that have supported recent fundraisers including raising money for the Campbell family and donating to the pediatric patients at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Your donations make a difference! Thank you!! Please read below under 'Counselor's Corner' if you'd like to learn more about how to Adopt-A-Family this holiday season.
December 6th are Parent/Teacher conferences. Please be sure to sign up for a conference once teachers send out the Sign-Up Genius link. The expectation is that conferences are in-person at Schweitzer. Teachers are looking forward to sharing students progress, student goals, and strategies for how you can best help at home. We value and appreciate your support.
Thank you,
Dr. Amy Orlando

Campbell Family 'Thank You!'
Dear Neshaminy Community,
We wanted to take this time to thank everyone for their generosity. We truly are speechless. We really can't even begin to express how much this means to us. The community and schools have been amazing and such a blessing to us. No matter how big or how small, we appreciate it.. I don't think we would be getting by without everyone. We can't thank everyone enough for the donations. Every day is a struggle, but in the end, we will all be okay. We have so much love and support from everyone. Thank you again for all your kindness. We truly can't thank everyone enough.
Thank you,
The Campbell Family
Monster Mash & Trunk-or-Treat
Thank you to our Albert Schweitzer PTO for hosting our annual Monster Mash on Friday, October 18th. There were over 20 cars decorated for the festive event. There were also games and activities for students in the field area outside of the gym. Thank you to all the parent volunteers for helping make the event special!

Schweitzer Lions Attend Barnes & Noble Night!
To promote literacy at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School, students were encouraged to attend a Barnes & Noble Night Thursday, November 7th. With the support of building Reading Specialists, students are completing daily ‘Roaring Reader’ logs to promote a love for reading and build strong daily reading habits. Along with guest readers, there was also a featured Frappuccino at the Starbucks designed by 1st grader Nico Vagnozzi: The Chocolate Caramel Crush. Students and families spent over $3,000 on new books and other items at the event, and a portion of the sales go right back to the school. Well done, readers!
Yay! It's Pajama Day! CHOP Fundraiser
On Friday, November 15th, students at Albert Schweitzer Elementary School participated in a fundraiser to support pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Students & staff enjoyed a cozy PJ day and raised money through an online fundraising page and cash donations. Awareness was on children giving back to children, and the families and staff raised an amazing $1.988 for CHOP!! Thank you to the Erskine family for suggesting the fundraiser and for all the Albert Schweitzer students and staff that participated and gave donations. A meaningful and successful event!

PTO-Piazza's Bakery Fundraiser
The PTO is providing a fundraiser from Piazza's Bakery. You can purchase vouchers for 10" pies or donuts from Piazza's. This is a great treat to purchase to have delicious treats for the upcoming Thanksgiving and winter holidays!
Attached is the PDF flyer with a live link to online ordering as well as the paper form. Paper copies are also being sent home today in student backpacks. Each voucher costs $18. The vouchers are valid for 1 year and the flavors at the bakery change. The vouchers are not holiday specific, so any pies/donuts on their menu can be ordered.
