Duval Dispatch
Celebrating 70 Years of Regal/Duval!
Week of Sep. 15th
Dear Duval Families!
As we begin our fourth week of school, the focus continues to shift toward more academic pursuits, all of which dovetail with our core values. We have been talking about and promoting this month's value of Safety as the paramount goal in what we need in order to be able to learn and grow in the best environment possible! Along with the personal satisfaction of being safe, students have also been earning "Dolphin Dollars" if an adult catches them demonstrating the value of the month.
Each class is part of a Pod, which is a cross section of one class each K-5, called the Eyes, Ears, Fins, and Tails. Pods do fun things together and sometimes compete for various prizes. You'll hear more about Pods as we go through the year.
Nice weather and a full week ahead. Looking forward to seeing students at work and play as we continue to build new friendships and communities around the building!
Don't forget to swing by Heidi's Hollow for ice cream Monday evening!
Have a great week everyone!
Dr. Marcus and Ms. Craig

Fresh Fruit/Veggie Tasting
Thanks to a grant Mrs. Doucette has received, Food Services provides us with fresh veggies or fruit to taste each Thursday and Friday. We've already had snap peas and blueberries. Nurse Anderson DOES check each week and notify teachers of any allergies. Kids loved this program last year, and we're glad to have it back again!
School Council
Congratulations to Rachel Sullivan as one of the three parent/guardian members of the Duval School Council. Many thanks to the five parents who submitted an application and a paragraph that was read at the PTO meeting prior to voting. Volunteerism makes Duval stronger! Thank you all!
Speaking of jumping in...
Through a simple request to colleagues at work, parent Mr. Depina, was able to get us hundreds of mini boxes of tissues! Many thanks for the efforts and support!

If you couldnāt make it and would like more information, make sure to join our PTO Facebook group or email us and we can fill you in.
Weāre excited for our special partnership event with Heidiās Hollow tomorrow- Sept 15th from 3ā9 PM! Come out for an evening of fun with your family while supporting our schoolājust mention "Duval" at checkout, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to us. If you are able to come between 4:30-5:30 you may have your treats prepared by our own Dr. Marcus or Ms. Craig! Itās a great way to enjoy the fall season and give back at the same time. Post a photo of your student at Heidiās to our Facebook (or email it to us) and they will be entered into a raffle to win a Duval winter hat!
In other news, Monster Mash (10/24) ticket order forms will be heading to the printer this week, so keep an eye on your childās backpack for those soon. Also, we are now accepting contributions for this yearās Basket Raffle (11/21). We are especially looking for any tickets for sporting events or the theater, etc. Or, if you have a connection to a business that would like to contribute a gift certificate or experience please email us at duvalpto@gmail.com. Basket Raffle is one the two large fundraisers we do each year and we want to make this yearās event our biggest one ever!
