MacArthur Elementary School
November 7, 2025
A Message from Principal Buchko
Dear MacArthur Families,
We’re excited to announce that all seven CPCSC elementary schools will once again participate in One District, One Book, a shared reading experience that brings students, families, and staff together through the joy of storytelling. This year’s selection is Life According to Og the Frog by Betty G. Birney—a heartwarming tale about a curious classroom frog who learns about friendship, self-acceptance, and adapting to new environments.
As part of this program, every elementary student and staff member will receive a copy of the book to read together during the month of November. Teachers will incorporate the story into daily lessons, and families are encouraged to read along at home. The goal is to build a strong reading community and provide a shared experience that connects students with their classmates, teachers, and loved ones. Local organizations, including the Crown Point Community Library, will also offer fun, book-themed activities for families to enjoy together.
To celebrate the start of our reading, MacArthur hosted a kick off event with students today. Students received their books and reading schedules this afternoon. To explore related events at the Crown Point Community Library, please visit https://crownpointlibrary.org/events.
We look forward to sharing this story and creating meaningful reading moments with your family!
Sincerely,
Marian Buchko, Principal
