6th Grade Science/HA Science:

We had a great first week of school! We have been and will continue to become familiar with classroom procedures and expectations. Our activities have focused on the learning objective: I can observe, explain relationships, and predict. Most students have had supplies, but just a reminder that they need a five subject notebook for my classroom. Just a reminder, parents should be checking and signing planners for one more week. Thanks for sharing your kiddos with me this year! Please contact me via phone or email if you have any questions or concerns!

6th Grade Computer Science:

I'm excited to have some of my students for two or three different classes! We will be using code.org daily in computer science this year. This curriculum has both hands-on activities, as well as, activities on the code.org website. By next week, your child should be able to log in and show you what they are working on. Students will be required to journal daily, so having paper/notebook is needed. Our first unit is Intro to Problem Solving.

7th Grade HA Science:

I'm so glad to see some familiar faces for Science again this year! Be looking for the syllabus for my class to be coming home next week. We kicked off the year with activities designed to support the objective:I can obtain, evaluate, and communicate information.(SEP 8). We will review scientific method, lab safety, and lab procedures before moving on to our first "official" topic, Forces and Motion. Please contact me via phone or email if you have any questions or concerns!

All students are starting off the year learning and practicing classroom procedures! We are writing in our planners every day so please check out your student's planner for information on what they did in science! Next week all students will be sent home with a lab safety paper that must be signed by an adult and returned to school. Please ask your student about this and make sure it is returned to me promptly. The lab safety paper will be due on August 14!

The first week will be about finding what we are good at and what we are not as good at yet. Students need two composition notebooks and their math folder. Reporting Student Absences (Number To Call For An Absence 765-458-7438) All absences must be reported by the parent or guardian. Absences may be reported by phone, voice mail, electronic transmission, or written note. If a phone call or voice mail or e-mail report is not received by 9:00 a.m., when possible an attempt will be made by the school to contact the home of the missing student to verify their absence. E-mails may be sent to Ms. Dare @ emily.dare@uc.k12.in.us. Should the school have to make this contact because the parent did not call, the absence will be considered unexcused. An absence reported by phone or voice mail needs to include a specific explanation for the reason for the absence. Any absence reported by electronic transmission or written note should be received by school personnel no later than the date the student returns from the absence and is also expected to include a specific explanation for the reason for the absence.

8th Grade Washington DC Trip

Dear Parent or guardian,

Washington D.C. registration is still ACTIVE and we are looking for more students to join our trip planned for the Spring of 2026. We are encouraging all current 8th grade students to a attend this trip, as there are educational activities being planned alongside the trip.

Since we are hopeful to get the majority (if not all) of the students on this trip, we have been setting up different fundraising opportunities to make the trip more affordable for all families. In addition, ONE parent/guardian is allowed to accompany a student on this trip, but will be expected to pay the same amount as their child to attend the trip. If you would like to attend this trip or still need to register your child, you will need to go the hemisphere website to register and pay a deposit or fill out the paper forms and send cash/check deposit into the school to be given to Mrs. Seibert.

If you were to have any questions during the registration process, please contact Mrs. Seibert at allison.seibert@uc.k12.in.us
