Please be patient during the first week as we ensure student safety
The safety and security of our Horizon Leadership Academy students is our top priority. With that in mind, below is information regarding arrival and dismissal expectations. Please follow all traffic laws and show compassion and empathy towards each other, our students, and our staff. If you need clarification, please feel free to reach out.
Car Riders: Parents are to drop off and pick up their students in the front of the school. Please use the right lane and pull forward as far as possible to allow more cars to enter the circle. Students should enter and exit the vehicle from the right side. Parents should not park in the bus ramp. At the end of the school day, students are encouraged to exit the school quickly through the front entrance and look for their parent vehicles. As students get into their cars and traffic moves, please pull up to the furthest open spot to keep traffic flowing and ensure student safety.
Bus Riders: For information on bus routes and services, please visit on this webpage (if your child is using for bus service). All bus riders should be at their designated bus stop 10 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. At the end of the day, students exit from the commons at dismissal. Students should board their bus immediately to avoid missing their transportation.
Walkers: Students walking to and from school will leave from the front entrance of the school. Remind your student to always be aware of the traffic around them, don't wear headphones while walking, and use the designated crosswalks or pedestrian lights when crossing the street.
First Day Reminders:
- On the first day of school, please support our transition process, and allow your kids to enter the building independently, unless you are dropping off medication at the clinic or have a pre-arranged meeting. Parents will have the opportunity to visit their child’s classes at Open House on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
- School Hours: For all students: 7:50am (assembly) -8:00am (tardy bell)
Middle school/Bus - 3.45pm (dismissal)
- Traffic will be heavy on the first week of school. We appreciate your patience. Please allow extra time.
- Be safe and patient during arrival and dismissal. Drive carefully!
- Bus route information may be found on this webpage (if your child is using for bus service). Make sure your child knows his/her bus route information. Note: The bus fee will be $250
- HLA students must wear their uniforms starting from the first day of school. Please help ensure that your child complies with the HLA uniform policy every day.

🩺 Nurse’s Corner: Important Health Reminders
Welcome back! As we begin the school year, here are a few important health guidelines to ensure a safe and smooth start for all students:
💊 Medication Policy
All medications (prescription and over-the-counter, including cough drops) must be brought in by a parent/guardian in the original container.
Students may not carry medications in backpacks or lunch kits.
Medications must be stored in the clinic and accompanied by a Medication Authorization Form, signed by a parent. Prescription medications also require a physician’s signature.
Over-the-counter meds can only be given according to the label instructions for your child’s age/weight, unless a doctor’s note provides alternate directions.
Any medication required for more than 15 school days must be accompanied by a physician’s note.
The school does not stock over-the-counter medications.
📌 At the end of the year, all medications must be picked up by an adult. Leftover medications will be safely discarded per policy.
💉 Vaccination Reminder
All students — new and returning — are required to be up to date on vaccinations in order to attend school. Please ensure your child's immunization records are current.
