College Prep Course Approval Window & Rubric Update College Prep Course Approval Window & Rubric Update

According to the 2024 Accountability Manual, in the 2025-2026 school year, CCMR credit can only be earned through College Prep courses that are on an approved TEA list by a student who is in 12th grade.

TEA's Nov. 22 "This Week in Performance Reporting" included updates on the college prep approval process and rubric.

  • TEA has set up a college prep overview page for LEAs that includes a timeline. A final list of approved college prep courses will not occur before March 2025.
  • The rubric is included on Pages 13-16 of the Guide for College Preparatory Course Providers
  • Providers, such as Texas College Bridge or Institutions of Higher Education, must submit an interest form by January 10 so that they will receive an application to complete prior to the January 31 deadline. 🔶 [updated Dec. 12 to reflect change from Jan. 24]
  • R10 will host an informational Zoom session on December 12 to help schools understand how they might be impacted by this process. Register Below.

GT Reminders GT Reminders

Things teachers should remember about gifted students:

  • GT students have special needs and need curricular modifications in order to grow and learn
  • Gifted students can't "take care of themselves"...they need teachers and guidance just like other students.
  • Gifted students may require a range of educational services. They are rarely equally gifted across the board, and may need support, tutoring, or intervention in particular content areas.
  • GT students aren't always straight "A" students, nor are they always teacher pleasers!
  • Gifted students need opportunities to work with their intellectual peers and other gifted students.
