β PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE β
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to the last newsletter for the term.
As we come to the end of another busy and productive term, Iβd like to take a moment to reflect on some of the wonderful experiences weβve shared as a school community.
Term highlights
One of the highlights this term was our Iftar Community Dinner, which was attended by over 250 people. It was a truly special evening filled with amazing food and a strong sense of community. Thank you to all the families and staff who joined us and contributed to making it such a memorable event.
Our Meet the Teacher afternoon was another success, providing families with the opportunity to learn about their child's upcoming year of learning and to meet the teachers who will be working with them everyday. The free sausage sizzle was a hit as well!
The student leadership team enjoyed a Captains and Prefects Morning Tea with their parents. This gathering was a wonderful chance to celebrate our students' achievements and recognise the vital support their parents provide.
Also, throughout the term, students have enjoyed participating in Footsteps Dance Lessons, which were provided at no cost to families. These sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for students to develop new skills and have fun through movement and music.
Looking ahead to next term, we are excited to introduce the Life Skills Program for all students. This program, also fully funded by the school, will focus on mindfulness and emotional regulationβimportant skills that will support studentsβ well-being and resilience.
Attendance Matters
This week, I met with our Home School Liaison Officer from the Department of Education to review our school attendance. During this meeting, several students' attendance records were identified as concerning. Some families will receive letters this week regarding the need for improvement in their child's attendance. It is vital that all parents and carers prioritise student attendance, ensuring that children come to school on time every day unless they are unwell.
Kindergarten
Lastly, congratulations to our kindergarten students for completing their first term at school! They have settled in remarkably well and adjusted to their new routines beautifully.
Thank you for your ongoing support this term. Wishing all our students and families a safe and happy holiday. We look forward to seeing you back next term, refreshed and ready for more learning!
Warm regards,
Jodie Landon
Principal

π Stage 1 in the Spotlight π
π¦πΏ Helping Our Feathered Friends β Science in Action! πΏπ¦
This term, Stage 1 students have been busy exploring the needs of living things, focusing on how animals rely on air, water, food, and shelter to survive. As part of their learning, students in 1/2 Crimson, 2 Scarlet, and 1 Ruby have put their knowledge into action by creating bird feeders to support our local birdlife!
β¨ 1/2 Crimson learned about how animals adapt when their environment changes. To help our feathered friends, they designed and built their own bird feedersβnow they're eagerly waiting to see which birds will visit! π¦
β¨ 2 Scarlet explored how we can help animals by providing food, shelter, and safety. Through hands-on learning, they worked together to create bird feeders, combining creativity with science while caring for local wildlife. π οΈπ
β¨ 1 Ruby had a fantastic time making bird feeders using natural and recycled materials. With great excitement, they hung them outside their classroom and are ready to observe and record the birds that come to visit. What birds do you think theyβll spot first? π¦ π¦ββ¬π¦
A huge well done to all our young scientists for their creativity and enthusiasm in helping our local wildlife! πΏπ¦π

ππ₯ͺ Learning About Healthy Eating in K Lavender & K Mauve! π₯ͺπ
K Mauve have been busy learning across all curriculum areas
This week, K Lavender and K Mauve explored healthy eating in their PD/H lessons! π±πͺ
K Lavender looked at the food pyramid and made two sandwiches, one with Vegemite & cheese and another with lettuce & cheese. Students had fun comparing which one was the healthier choice and which one their taste buds liked best! ππ
K Mauve learned about Always Foods and Sometimes Foods, taste-testing a healthy sandwich (lettuce, cheese, and tomato), a sometimes sandwich (Vegemite and cheese), and a small treat (snack-size dairy milk chocolate). Most students gave the healthy sandwich a big thumbs up! ππ
It was a fun and delicious way for students to learn about balanced food choices and the importance of healthy eating! π₯¦ππ§

π Shape Shifters in Action! π
Check out our amazing Stage 2 students as they dive into the world of 2D shapes! This week, theyβve been translating (sliding), reflecting (flipping), and rotating (turning) their shapes to create stunning tessellated patterns. Their creativity and teamwork truly shine through these colourful creations.

π« PBL Rewards Day π«
On Thursday, 10th April students who have met the PBL Rewards Day criteria will experience a Water Fun Day with their stage. Students are likely to get wet during the water play activities. As such, please ensure your child wears clothing and shoes (closed-in, no thongs) that are OK to get wet and brings the following items on the day:
Dry clothes and shoes to change into
Hat
Towel
Plastic bag to put wet things in when finished
Students who do not bring a change of clothes will not be able to participate in the water play activities. There will also be dry activities that students may participate in if they do not like to get wet, or if they do not bring a change of clothes.
Please note that students who have not met the PBL Rewards Day criteria will not be permitted to participate.
π 5/6 Mint in the Spotlight π
During literacy sessions, 5/6 Mint have been exploring characterisation, focusing on how authors use archetypes to develop memorable and meaningful characters. In the lead up to ANZAC Day, students have also been learning about the symbolism associated with this important day of remembrance. As part of their learning, they coloured poppies to create a beautiful class wreath, which will be used in the whole school ANZAC Day ceremony. Additionally, the class created a thoughtful artwork depicting the Reveille played at sunrise and the Last Post played at sunset, capturing the spirit and solemnity of ANZAC Day.
