RMS Monday Message

The 1st Week of the 2024-2025 School Year in the BCSD is in the books! It was great to welcome back our returning students in 7th and 8th grade while also meeting all of our new students to the building!

Please join us tomorrow night Tuesday, September 10th, at Rombout Middle School for our annual Meet the Teacher Night. The evening will begin at 6pm sharp and conclude at 8pm. You will begin at your students first period "A Day" class and follow their "A Day" schedule to hear from all their teachers. We will have printed schedules available if you need a copy. Please arrive by 5:45pm if you need a copy of your students schedule. This event is intended for parents and guardians.

We have some new faces joining us at Rombout this school year! Welcome to our new staff below!

Arrival: If you plan on dropping off your student in the morning, we ask that you use the Kiosk Parking Lot (the lot with the Flag Pole). Note that our Kiosk Lot and Mattaewan does get backed up in the morning. Please plan accordingly and leave a few minutes earlier than you otherwise would. We ask that you pull up as far as you can in the loop when dropping off. Security, Administration, and Faculty will be assisting with this process. The bus loop parking lot is strictly for busses to drop off/pick up students and faculty/staff parking. Please do not use this lot for dropping off or picking up your student.

Dismissal: 6th grade dismissal is at 2:39pm and 7th/8th grade dismissal is at 2:42pm. Busses typically leave RMS at 2:50pm. Please give a few extra minutes for busses to arrive home the first few days of school. If you pick up your student at dismissal, you may utilize the Kiosk lot or Robert Cahill Drive (behind RMS near Memorial Park). Please do not use the bus/faculty lot.

Modified practices begin on or after September 9, 2023 besides Modified Football which began Wednesday, September 4th. Students will not be authorized to begin practice unless they are registered to Family ID. Family ID opened on August 12th for modified athletes and students will not be allowed to participate in sports until their registration has been approved. Questions on FamilyID and/or needed physicals should be directed to Nurse Amber Klemann (klemann.a@beaconk12.org) for Modified Sports.

9/20 - Modified Girls Soccer vs. Monroe Woodbury 4:15 @ RMS Soccer Field

Girls in Sports Day 2024 will be Saturday, 9/28! Girls at RMS in grades 6-8 are strongly encouraged to attend this event! Our Varsity Coaches and players will be running mini clinics for all the sports that Beacon Athletics has to offer. This is a great opportunity to get involved and try many different sports in one day. Girls will be separated by age and all equipment will be provided. Lunch and a T-Shirt is included in the registration fee. See the flyer below for information on how to register. Any questions, feel free to contact giametta.j@beaconk12.org

There are many clubs and activities for RMS Students to get involved in throughout the school year! Interest meetings are beginning to be held, and we suggest listening for those dates in the morning and afternoon announcements at school. We are going to be collecting Club Meeting dates and times, and will get those out to you as soon as we can!

1) There will be a National Junior Honor Society meeting after school on Tuesday 9/10 in D135 for all 8th graders who were inducted last year. All members must attend. Members should also plan to attend the RMS Open House Tuesday night from 5:45 - 8pm. Questions please see Mrs. Paredes in D135.

2) eSports tryout dates: Wednesday, September 25th for Super Smash Bros at RMS after school. Friday,September 27th for Rocket League and Madden - transportation will be provided to Contender eSports location in Wappingers. Time TBD. Coach Junjulas will be setting up a meeting soon to talk about the upcoming season with students . Date will be on morning announcements. Any questions, email junjulas.j@beaconk12.org

Picture day will be 9/18 and picture retakes will be 11/4. Order forms will be handed out in English classes. You may also go to www.Upstate-Images.com and the online code is Rombout24.
