FROM STUDENT COUNCIL
Student Council is Back!
Student Council is back for the 2025-2026 school year and is open to all fifth and sixth-grade students. This is a great opportunity for students to become leaders in our school and community by participating in various events and projects.
The Student Council will have a sense of pride and accomplishment by the end of the year, knowing the positive impact they have made on Cherokee Trail and the surrounding community. Meetings will begin mid-September.
If your child is interested, please complete this application. Please read this document for more information about Student Council at CTE.
We look forward to a great year and are excited about the possibilities! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Weyhrich, Mrs. Holmes, or Mr. Jones.
BE EPICER @ CTE
At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially.
They are:
ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT
Read more on the EPICER page!
In September we will be focusing on ENTHUSIASM. Here are the student indicators:
* I show a positive attitude at all times
* I am eager to learn
* I show active engagement throughout my day

THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
Here we are in week two of completing our beginning-of-year testing. Our students spent most of last week going through their Literacy diagnostic, and now they have moved on to Math. From what I have seen so far, it looks to me like our students are working hard and doing their best. Kindergarten starts its beginning-of-year assessments this week as well, which is always interesting since they are entirely computer-based. All will be well and it will be good to see where we stand with them.
On the home front, not much has happened this week. The biggest thing is that my one and only has decided that she wants to rush a sorority. She was going to wait to see how her classes went, but I guess after one week, she feels confident that school will be fine, and she needs to go through the rush process. Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what this entails, but it should create some interesting content for the chronicles moving forward.
That is it for this week, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continues...
