Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
As we begin the second quarter on Monday, October 19, we have an opportunity to build on the progress, accomplishments, and lessons of our first quarter. Every new quarter brings a fresh start and the chance to set goals, strengthen habits, and continue growing as students and as a school community. As we work toward the end of the quarter on December 18, I encourage every student to stay focused, take pride in their work, ask questions, seek help when needed, and make the most of each day. Success is built through consistent effort, positive choices, and a willingness to keep improving.
First semester exams are December 16th, 17th, and 18th, please plan accordingly. Exams are required for all students and have a direct impact on first semester GPAs. These assessments account for 20% of the semester grade, are averaged into the GPA, and semester grades play an important role in determining class rank. Seniors, please remember that this is the final semester that will establish your official class rank. Regular attendance, completing homework, and staying on top of projects, essays, and other assignments are essential to being fully prepared.
Attendance, Punctuality, and Being Present Matter
Being in school, being on time, and being ready to learn are expectations, not options. Every class period matters, and missing school has a direct impact on student learning, academic progress, classroom participation, and relationships with teachers and classmates. When students are absent, they miss instruction, discussions, activities, and opportunities to ask questions and receive immediate feedback. Even when assignments can be made up, the learning experience cannot always be replicated. Arriving late also means missing valuable instructional time and disrupting the learning environment for others. We ask that everyone makes school attendance a priority, arrive on time, and be in class prepared to learn every day. Families play an important role in reinforcing these expectations by establishing consistent routines and scheduling appointments outside the school day whenever possible.
Every day counts, every class counts, and every minute matters. Our students cannot reach their full potential if they are not here to learn. Let’s make consistent attendance and punctuality a priority throughout the second quarter.
Sincerely,
Mr. Keith Merrill
Principal

The Brunswick City School District encourages students, teachers, staff, parents and other members of our community to report any instances of potential violence, bullying, self-harm or any other issue where our students may be at risk. Information about the SaferSchools Tip Line can be found on the Brunswick City Schools webpage. The Brunswick City School District partners with SaferSchools Ohio to provide our families with a free resource for keeping our schools safe. The anonymous tip line service helps alert local law enforcement to potential school safety crisis. By calling or texting the statewide tip line (844-SAFEROH), you can report anything that is suspicious or endangering to you, your friends or your school.
