Daland Memorial Library Summer Reading Program!
This week, our students enjoyed a walking field trip to Daland Memorial Library to kick off summer reading season!
Students learned all about this year’s exciting summer reading theme, “Unearth a Story,” which features a fun dinosaur adventure throughout the summer. Library staff shared information about the reading program, upcoming activities, and all the ways students can stay engaged with reading while school is out.
We are grateful to Daland Memorial Library for welcoming our students and helping inspire a love of reading that extends beyond the school year. We hope all of our families will visit the library this summer and join in the fun!
Happy Reading and Happy Summer!

Please be aware that this demonstration will include other emergency responders from the community. There could be a temporary road closure near the field.
ParentSquare
I’m happy to announce that we are adopting a new communications platform called ParentSquare. We are moving to ParentSquare for ease of use and for a consistent K-12 experience for families.
All district and school announcements and newsletters will be through ParentSquare beginning on July 1st. We will no longer be using S’more, Bloomz, or School Messenger for those one-way communications. We will continue to use email as our primary two-way communication tool.
You will receive an invitation to join ParentSquare on Monday, June 8th. When you receive that invitation, please click the link to activate your account. It will take less than a minute. You can use ParentSquare on any device. You can download the free mobile app for iOS and Android or use the desktop version at www.parentsquare.com.
With ParentSquare, you’ll be able to:
Receive all district, school, and classroom posts via email, text, or app.
View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events.
Easily sign up to volunteer and send items.
Use the app to get all district, school, and classroom posts in one place.
Starting in August, teachers will be trained on ParentSquare. Clark-Wilkins and Mont Vernon Village School teachers will have the option to use ParentSquare as a two-way communication tool like they do now with Bloomz. AMS and SHS teachers will continue to use email as the two-way communication tool.
Please keep an eye out for the invitation to join ParentSquare on Monday, June 8th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your school Principal. Bob Jozokos, EdS

From Our Health Office...
Hello Families!
Spring is here, and it's the perfect time to focus on staying healthy as we enjoy the changing weather. Here are a few important health tips to help our families stay happy and healthy this season:
Allergies:
Spring brings beautiful flowers, but also pollen and other allergens! If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, please remind them to wash their hands and face after playing outside. If they take allergy medication, make sure it's working and that they’re taking it regularly.
Sunscreen & Hydration:
As the days get sunnier, it’s important to protect our skin. Please apply sunscreen to your child before school if they’ll be outside for long periods. Also, remind them to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.
Spring Sports Safety:
For those participating in spring sports, remember to stretch before practice and games to help avoid injury. Proper footwear is key, and always wear protective gear when needed. As we get the bikes, scooters, hoverboards, and roller skates/blades out, please remember to always wear a helmet.
Hand Hygiene:
With the start of warm weather, we want to keep germs at bay! Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after outdoor play. Illnesses continue to circulate even as the nicer weather comes around.
Bug Bites & Safety:
Ticks and mosquitoes are out as the weather warms up. If your child plays in wooded or grassy areas, check them for ticks after outdoor activities. Use bug spray to prevent bites and wear long sleeves and pants when possible.
Reminder:
Students must be fever, vomit, and/or diarrhea free for at least 24 hours, without the use of medication, before returning to school, following an illness. Please let me know if you need help with any health-related concerns. And, as always, it is highly encouraged that each student brings a water bottle to school daily as well as a spare change of clothes. The clothing is particularly helpful for any spills, accidents, or spring time dew and mud on the playground.
Let’s keep these tips in mind and have a safe, healthy spring!
Be well,
Nurse Amanda
