Principal Message

Dear PQ Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday and the additional day off yesterday. An early snow day is always welcomed at PQ; it certainly brought some joy and excitement to our start of December!

This month, we are focusing on what it means to be a Critical and Creative Thinker. Throughout the month, students will engage in tasks that stretch their thinking, challenge their assumptions, and encourage them to look at problems from new angles. As always, the Profile of a 5th Grader remains central to our instructional practices and guides our philosophy and methods across grade levels.

We also have a very special opportunity coming to PQ. Stéphane Matteau, a name any hockey fan will recognize, will be joining our 4th graders beginning on December 16th. Stéphane runs a program called Make Your Moment, designed to help educate, teach, and support students in developing leadership skills and strong character. The program includes discussions on anti-bullying, self-respect, and personal growth. The students will participate in the floorball hockey experience where they will get a chance for physical activity, teamwork, laughter, and pure fun. Stéphane’s mission is to empower students, strengthen their sense of well-being, and help them develop the confidence to achieve their academic and personal goals. He will be visiting our 4th-grade students four times throughout the remainder of the school year. This is an incredible opportunity, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our community.

Finally, registration for Kindergarten and Pre-K will begin next week:

  • Kindergarten:
Families registering for Kindergarten should contact the PQ Main Office to schedule a registration appointment for next week.

  • Pre-K:
The Pre-K lottery registration will be sent out next week and posted to the district website. Families will register to enter the lottery, which will be held at the end of January. After the lottery, selected families will be invited to officially register. For the 2026–27 school year, we will have 41 available spaces for children who turn 4 years old on or before December 1st, 2026.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Wishing you all a wonderful rest of the week!

Dr. Martin
