It is hard to believe it is already May and we are in the home stretch of this 2025-26 school year! Each of our students is working hard as we head into end of the year testing season, please help us by continuing to encourage them to do their best! Next week we look forward to spoiling our staff during Staff Appreciation week. Don't forget to scroll all the way through so you don't miss out on any of our end of the year activities!

Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May) commemorates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. It is NOT Mexico’s Independence Day. The United States celebrates its Independence Day on the 4th of July. Mexico actually celebrates its independence on September 16th. Cinco de Mayo has become a bigger holiday in the U.S. than it is in Mexico. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Traditions include parades, parties, mariachi music, folklorico dancing, piñatas, and Mexican food.

Marlin’s this week were asking you to: What is the year of Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. Place one answer slip in a Cultural Corner box by the end of the school day this Thursday for your chance to win a prize. Your Student Council members will select 1 primary and 1 upper grade student from a raffle during Friday morning announcements.
