A message from the Superintendent
Dear Everett Public Schools community,
Happy fall! As we settle into the 2026-27 school year, I am grateful for the energy and enthusiasm filling our schools. Each new school year brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and connect, and it has been wonderful to see our students and staff embracing those opportunities across the district.
As I visit our schools, I see students engaged in meaningful learning, teachers creating welcoming and supportive classrooms, and staff working together to help every student succeed. From our youngest learners discovering new possibilities to our seniors preparing for the next chapter, there is so much to look forward to in the year ahead.
Fall is also an important time for strengthening the connection between families and schools. Conferences, school events, and conversations with teachers and staff give us opportunities to come together around a shared goal: supporting each student’s success. Thank you for making time to participate, ask questions, and stay engaged in your child’s learning journey. Your partnership matters.
In the weeks ahead, our schools will be filled with activities that bring our community together, from athletic competitions and music and arts performances to family nights and celebrations of student learning. I encourage you to join us when you can and experience the talent, creativity, and school spirit our students bring to everything they do.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping make Everett Public Schools a place where every student can inspire, achieve, and thrive.
Be safe and be well,
Dr. Ian B. Saltzman
Superintendent

Opportunities
Advanced Learning Opportunities and Highly Capable testing
At Everett Public Schools, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to reach their highest potential. Our Advanced Learning programs provide enrichment, acceleration, and support to meet students’ unique abilities and needs from elementary through high school.
These programs include Learning Enrichment and Highly Capable classrooms in elementary schools, accelerated pathways in middle school, and advanced coursework in high school such as Advanced Placement (AP), College in the High School, Running Start, and Career Technical Education (CTE) dual-credit classes. In 2027 we will be launching the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program at Cascade High School.
This fall, universal screening for all first- and fifth-grade students will be completed by October 9, with scores later shared with families and teachers. Parent conferences are November 2-3, and provide a venue to discuss the advanced learning opportunities and the referral deadline for Highly Capable (HC) testing. For kindergarten and grades one through four, referral forms for screening or testing must be turned in by November 9.
Our goal is equitable access, challenging every student academically while nurturing their social and emotional growth.
Learn more about the referral process and program details on the Everett Public Schools website or contact your school counselor.
Transition to Kindergarten (TK) 2026-27
Everett Public Schools (EPS) is offering Transition to Kindergarten for children who are not currently attending/enrolled in an early learning program and are age eligible to enter Kindergarten in the fall of 2027. Students will be screened in November and early December 2026 and may qualify based on academic and social-emotional needs.
To be eligible for screening, children must:
- be 5 years old by August 31, 2027
- live within the boundaries of Everett Public Schools (to check on your EPS neighborhood school, visit www.everettsd.org/transportation - select ‘2026-27 Find My School & Route’ – enter your home address)
- not be currently enrolled in an early learning full or part-time program such as: licensed childcare, preschool, co-op preschool, faith-based preschool, ECEAP, Head Start, etc.
- demonstrate academic and/or social-emotional needs through a screening process
If you are interested in Transition to Kindergarten and believe your child may qualify, please visit https://www.everettsd.org/early-learning/transition-to-kindergarten and submit the Transition to Kindergarten Interest Form. The link to the Interest Form will be open on Monday, October 26,2026. The deadline to submit the Interest Form is Friday, December 11, 2026 at 4 p.m.
Due to a decline in state funding for the TK program, EPS will have fewer classrooms than in previous years. Students who qualify for TK will attend at one of the four schools where the program will be available this year. Locations of the schools will be confirmed in January 2027.

Everett Public Schools Foundation All In for Kids 2026
What does opportunity look like?
It looks like a child receiving the supplies students need to learn. A classroom brought to life through an innovation grant. A student getting support during a difficult time.
Every day, the Everett Public Schools Foundation helps create opportunities for students across Everett Public Schools. This year, they are working to raise nearly $700,000 to ensure students have access to the programs, resources, and support they need to thrive.
Together, we can strengthen learning, support well-being, and invest in brighter futures.
