Kindergarten Transition
- January 6th at 7pm: The ELC PTO will host a virtual meeting dedicated entirely to supporting families with the Kindergarten transition (in English)
- January 13th at 7pm: The ELC PTO will host a virtual meeting dedicated entirely to supporting families with the Kindergarten transition (in Spanish)
- February 2nd at 6pm: General kindergarten welcome night at each elementary school
February 4th at 6pm: Chinese Immersion Info Night at North Barrington Elementary
February 5th at 6pm: Spanish Dual Language Info Night at Lines Elementary
February 10th at 6pm: K-Lab (Kindergarten Lab) Info Night at BHS
- In February, a survey link will be available in Infinite Campus for ELC students who are transitioning to Kindergarten to select your kindergarten preference.
- All Kindergarten-eligible students must transition to Kindergarten, as state guidelines do not permit children to remain in the ELC for an additional year.
- Kindergarten eligibility = children who turn five years old on or before September 1st.
For students with IEPs, transition meetings will be scheduled with the Kindergarten teams.
- Families will be invited to participate, as your input is essential.
For students without an IEP or with a speech-only IEP, ELC teachers will share relevant information with Kindergarten teachers district-wide to support a smooth transition.
We strive to help support our students and families have a supportive transition to kindergarten; please don't hesitate to reach out to me or your child's team if you have any questions.

Winter Wonderfest returns to BHS on December 12 and 13 from 6 to 9 p.m., filling the building with music, art, lights, and holiday cheer! Enjoy live performances, interactive art stations, games, holiday crafts, DJs, Santa visits, and more. All craft and game activities are included with admission. We hope to see you there!

- Please download and check the My Ride K-12 app to view the most accurate and updated bus routes and pickup/drop-off times.

🚌All students have been assigned bus transportation for the school year.
- 🚗 If you plan to drive your child to and from the ELC and do not need bus service, please notify our ELC Administrative Assistant: Arely Gamez at agamez@barrington220.org or call the ELC Office at 224-770-4300.
If your child needs transportation to or from a daycare or a different address within Barrington 220 boundaries, please submit an Alternate Transportation Request here:
- Requests may take 72 hours or more to process.

On the following dates, ELC students will NOT have school. We conduct developmental screenings to accept new students into our program. If you have a child approaching 3 years of age, please sign up for a screening using the link below. Also, please share this information with other families in your neighborhood as we love accepting new students who need our program.

We are seeking donations of holiday lights to decorate our ELC tree at BHS Winterfest next week. If you have any spare lights, please deliver them to the ELC front office with a note stating "PTO Winterfest" no later than Tuesday, December 9th.
Help us stock the lounge for ELC staff for the holidays! Please view the sign-up genius here if you are interested. If possible, gear items toward the holiday/winter theme.
